I read that detroit still has tickets available for the game tonight? Is that true, and if it is, are they still the so called greatest fans in hockey?

Sharks playoff tickets sell out every year in about an hour. fyi

I wonder if I can find a shark to throw on the ice monday....

At least I'll give detroit this, thier media knows they are playing tonight, all they talk about here is the warriors/dallas game tommorrow. We have GREAT very hockey savy fans in San jose, but the media here blows. Mostly on the Niners and giants members, but these days, on the warriors.

I think wings fans thought this would be a walk. I was reading a couple of the detroit News sites, and they all thought this would be an easy series. The national press hasn't watched a sharks game all year from what I can tell. I think the wings will be shocked to find they are gonna have to play their best if they want to beat the sharks. Also, im tired of hearing how much better hasek is than nabby. I get it, hasek is a great goalie, but guess what, nabby ain't bad, and he also doesn't have the luxury of having a hall of fame defense pair in front of him. So, GAME ON! i hope the wings (for their sake) and their fans starting taking this seriously now.

I've heard/read the opposite. I don't think the Wings wanted the Sharks. Obviously with their past record against Dallas, I think that's who they were hoping to get.

I don't care for either team, but I'd go for the Sharks over the Wings since someone HAS to win.

The Sabres got bent over and raped with a chimney brush on that no goal call. Horrible call!

A writer for the Calgary Herald was talking about what we should do in FA, and then he went on about how it won't work anyways.

"After the '04 cup loss, it was obvious we needed to get younger. We signed Tony Amonte, Roman Hamrlik and Darren McCarty. After we bowed out to the Ducks in '05, it was clear that we needed to become more physical. We got Jeff Freisen and Alex Tanguay."

I laughed.

The problem was that you couldn't actually see the puck across the goal line. Even if they believe that it was, they have to see it to rule it a goal.

It's like the legal system, it's not what you know, it's what you can prove.

Congrats to the Canchokes for living down to expectations and blowing a 2-0 3rd period lead and any chance of winning the series tonight.

i don't know what you were reading but the freep and detroit news online both said the sharks were bigger, faster, and would most likely beat the wings in this series. every 'expert' from billy ray candyarse to bucci pick the sharks. we get the luxury of playing in a joke of a division so we reap the benefits when seeding time comes, but we all know the sharks can and should win this series.

The division may be a joke, but the wings defense isn't. Despite the 8 goal raid we had on hasek earlier this year, I think we have the most trouble with this attacking style. The preds did it too, but they were so damn fast it made us play sloppy. The wings have a whole new approach, its just plain body on body and its driving our defenseman crazy. Not many teams take playoff games in our building, but I think the wings have a shot at one. If they can do that, we may be in BIG trouble. Game three was more formulaic for us though. We came out putting puck on net and holding the zone. Passing was better, and most importantly, we played the second period wich is our best period. Without Bell and Marleau playing the wing, we always play better though.

SJ has DET on the ropes in Game 4.

2-0 midway through the 2nd period.

Just like The Ducks on the Canucks, if you cant adapt to the other teams change, no lead is safe. That was a sweet game and would love to see my Ducks play Detroit with the same results as last year (and 2003). Playing SJ all season long might be tough. Great series.

the longer the series goes, the more bleak it is for detroit. the big bodies of the sharks pounding and cycling will force the wings defense into more mistakes. luckily, hasek is a guy who can still take the heat. homer made a huge difference last night and he could spell trouble for the sharks in front. lidstrom's usually a rock but the play of guys like lilja and chelios (is he drawing Social Security yet?) and quincey are a total shock. seems like the sharks are slowed down when teams cover their wings and make their d-men bring the puck up. after game 1, i was worried this series wouldn't have much life but 2-2 going back to detroit gives it the makings of a classic series.

On the flip side, what bodes well for Detroit is San Jose's lack of killer instinct. Detroit is too savvy of a team to let hang around.
