He sucker punched a non-fighter from behind during a dust up the other night. He was immediately sent packing. The North Stars crowd began chanting for Boogaard in unison. This all happened in the final minute and a half of the game.
Check hockeyfights.com. Also if I ever get another dog...it will be a Rotty, and his name will be Boogaard...because that's probably the sweetest name ever for a dog. |

From NHL Press Release,
NEW YORK/TORONTO (April 20, 2007)—New York Islanders defenseman Sean Hill has been suspended 20 games for violating the terms of the NHL/NHLPA Performance Enhancing Substances Program. The suspension begins with tonight’s Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Quarterfinal game against the Buffalo Sabres. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the suspension is accompanied by mandatory referral to the NHL/NHLPA Program for Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health for evaluation and possible treatment. The player’s contract expires with the conclusion of the 2006-07 season. Any portion of the suspension that remains following the Islanders’ participation in the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs would resume, without pay, at the beginning of any successor contract. |

Jori should be happy to see the Sabres move on. I am too because every other team I picked in the first round is gone already.

Penguins' Crosby had broken foot last month
By Karen Price TRIBUNE-REVIEW Saturday, April 21, 2007 Penguins center Sidney Crosby played the last month of the regular season and the playoffs with a broken bone in his left foot. Crosby, 19, said on Saturday that he won't need surgery, but he will have to skip representing Canada in the upcoming World Championship tournament in Moscow because of the injury. "To play for Team Canada, especially with him part of it, in Moscow, a place I've always wanted to play, is tough," Crosby said of having to miss the tournament. Teammates Jordan Staal (Canada), Evgeni Malkin (Russia), Sergei Gonchar (Russia), Ronald Petrovicky (Slovakia) and Jarkko Ruutu (Finland) will be taking part in the tournament. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury said he might play for Canada, but as of today wasn't positive. Today was locker clean-out and exit interview day for the Penguins players, who were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round by the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Crosby suffered the injury while blocking a shot. He said the pain in his foot wasn't too bad beyond the first two weeks. "It got a little bit better after that," he said. "By the playoffs it was sore, but it wasn't grueling or anything like that." Crosby said the injury did not affect his performance. Karen Price can be reached at kprice@tribweb.com or 412-320-7980. http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_503934.html

Credit to Marty Turco, for the first time in his career he's really stepped up his game in the playoffs. Stars force a game 7 on Turco's second consecutive shutout.
Now let's see how he handles a game 7. |

Eastern Conference Semifinals are set:
(1) Buffalo Sabres versus (6) New York Rangers (2) New Jersey Devils versus (4) Ottawa Senators Detroit eliminates Calgary with a win in double OT. One game left to finish out the first round....Game 7 Stars/Canucks |

I can't root for Detroit because I just can't, but I'm not sorry to see them knock off Calgary. The Flames behavior at times in this series was disgraceful.

if stars win, then that is three from the Pacific Division. Those could be tough series for ducks. Time off doesnt hurt. Two goalies playing lights out helps these playoff games. Big time thrilled no more shootouts.

Tang was whining? Like publicly? Gosh, I seem to be missing all the good stuff these days. I did catch the baseball swing McLennan delivered. I think he picked the wrong sport. What the hell was he thinking?!

Marty Turco has to be one of the biggest playoff losing goalies out there. I'd rather have seen the Stars win.

i was hoping to get the stars this round as well but now, all i can hope is that the nucks beat on the ducks for 7 games, though i don't care who wins that series. as for wings-sharks, it'll be an uphill battle from the opening puck drop for the wings but this team can push back, unlike all the other soft and 'blades of glory'-type teams we ran out there before. if watuzzi and that 4th line can carry the physical play, then it becomes thornton v lidstrom/chelios and nabokov vs hasek. i don't expect a wings series win but won't be surprised by it, either. mt, you staying on the wagon? ![]() |

Nope, I'm off the wagon now.
I just wanted the Lames disposed of. Should be a great series to watch though. The Ducks just took the Nucks to the woodshed last night. |
