Filing a civil suit against that tramp would yield less than what the got out of O.J., who pled financial ruin from his golf cart.

Unfortunately, lawyers watch their own like gang members or maybe closer to the Masonic Lodge. It's very rare to prosecute a prosecetural lawyer but there IS precident. He obviously obstructed justice and was prejudicial and wanted his 15 minutes of fame. He most certainly will be reprimanded and sanctioned and there is a possibility of suspension, but I doubt it.

There is a rock solid case against the state, especially when the A General used the word innocent. That shocked lawyers. If they can't get to the DA, the state certainly could be left holding the baq in a judgement that won't be say 5 million for legal fees, but 100's of millions of dollars in punative damages.

That's her problem IMO. If you are ****ed up on illegal drugs and as a result, wrongly accuse someone of rape, you should still be held responsible.

I said lock her up for drugs, and if you took the time to read , I did say get her help , never said let her off scott free , just that there isnt enough to LOCK her up ....... ........ but it is what it is , Nifong took the case and tried to score political points ......

Neither Nifong nor Mangum will get what they deserve.

Nifong will get disbarred which means he'll lose his job and he'll probably just get hired by the John Edwards campaign (another North Carolina Democrat who prefers theatrics to facts).

Mangum, if jailed, will play the mommy card and get a very light sentence. If forced to pay restitution, will file for bankruptcy. Her creditors will never see a cent of it.

She doesn't deserve a pass because/if she was on drugs. If you are on drugs and murder someone, you are still responsible for that murder, this is no different. I'd also be willing to bet that the DA made her aware of the lack of evidence.

If you do not charge her with making the false accusation, THAT is giving her a free pass for that crime.

Well, the DNA tests DID prove that she had been passed around like a bong, but not by the Lacross team. Everyone on the team volunteered for testing.

Well I guess that is where we are going to disagree. If you are impaired by drugs or alcohol and wrongly accuse someone of a crime (especially rape) and you turn out to be wrong, YOU need to be held liable for the damage you cause. IMO that's part of the risk you assume when you use those substances.

It would be a totally different situation if she was impaired due to something beyond her control.
