Frozen Four is set:

North Dakota vs. Boston College
Michigan State vs. Maine

No Avs prospects in the FF.

Looks like Dingle to the Ducks will happen. Best of luck to Ryan. Ducks have been rewarded in signing quality undrafted NCAA players. I've read that Paukovich could also forgo his senior year and sign with the Oilers. Butler and Mannino are the other potential flight risks.

I really liked the way we played tonight with alot of heart and passion we took it to the nucks for atleast two periods and 2pts is 2pts.

Awesome game! I wasn't expecting the Avs to get out of Vancouver with a win. Gotta give the Hoser credit, he didn't **** it up for us.

I agree, Bronx....they ****ed us over on that OT goal, but we got em anyway.

As Dave Mustaine once penned, "Clinging onto life by the skin 'o my teeth."

Hell of an effort by the Avs tonight. Even if they come up short this season, they've definitely shown something during this run. They've shown a heart that wasn't present for most of the season and that they're not as far off as most of us thought. They'll go into the offseason with a nice chunk of cap space to work with as well as three 2nd rounders in the coming draft.

That said, they're still only 5 points back of Calgary, this thing aint over yet.

Congrats to Super Joe on tying Dino Ciccarelli for 15th on the all-time goal scoring list and the great Raymond Bourque for 9th in all-time points.

It was a fun game to listen to...they had to have the two points.

Listening to the game I realized that I have the maturity level of a 14 year old. Everytime the Avs' radio play by play man says something like "Finger bangs..." or "Richardson gets banged from behind." I giggle.

Has anyone else noticed that the "No Touch Light" maintenance guy from the Coors commercial looks like a cross between Joel Quenneville and Borat?

Well, this is pretty much it, folks. This week is make or break for the Avs. Calgary plays three on the road against quality opposition, twice against Minnesota and once against Vancouver. The Flames are the worst road team in the NHL, so there's a realistic possibility that they lose all three. Minnesota is smoking hot right now (9-1 in their last 10 games) and they're battling Vancouver for 1st in the Northwest division, which gives them plenty to play for. Luongo finally looked human tonight against the Avs, but he could be back on track by Saturday when Calgary rolls into town.

The Avs schedule is slightly better, but not by too much. They get Vancouver on Tuesday night at home, where they've beaten them three times out of three so far this season. Then it's on to Phoenix against Gretzky's boys who're trying to play the role of spoiler. That one is the potential let down game, one the Avs simply cannot afford to overlook. Then those red hot Wild come to Denver for an afternoon tilt. The Avs have lost two of the three meeting with them at Pepsi Center this season, so that looks like the toughest of the three.

After those three games each, Colorado & Calgary meet at the Saddledome in what could likely be the biggest game of the year for both teams.....but not if the Avs don't make up some ground this week.

It's gonna be interesting, if nothing else.

Yeah obviously they need all the points they can get, but the two games against the Flames are huge. If they somehow manage to get 4 points (preferably in regulation) out of those two games they'll have a great shot at getting in the tournament.

They also play the Predleys down the final stretch. They're definitely going to have to earn a playoff berth.

You and Don Cherry are about the only two I've heard voice that opinion.

Doesn´t Cherry basically only say stuff to be controversial?

There was a one page article about Joe Sakic in the biggest German sports paper today, btw. Krupp is full of praise for Joey.

Granted Malkin has more pts - but IMO - Staal has had a HUGE impact on this team. IMO - he's had more game changing plays than Malkin.

Not intentionally, he's just old and set in his ways. He slurps whichever western Canadian youngster he likes the best and pimps them for the Calder annually. Last year it was Dion Phaneuf, who, according to Cherry, should have won everything from the Calder to the Norris to the Hart to the Nobel prize.

It's really amazing that Sakic is still an elite player at the age of 37. 34 goals and 90 points this season with an outside shot of reaching 40 goals and 100 points with 7 games to go. It's a bit of a longshot, but I'm not ruling it out.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, though I think Malkin has had the Calder wrapped up since about midseason. Staal's defensive game is light years ahead of where any 18 year old's should be and he's been scoring at a regular clip ever since he got promoted from the 4th line to the 2nd.

Still, award voters just love numbers and that's usually what these things come down to.

Good news for Herc (although it was not unexpected)....Nicklas Backstrom confirms that he is coming to the league next year. Definitely the early favorite for the Calder.

I think next year will be the first in a long line of playoff trips for the Caps. They are going to be a real offensive juggernaut for a long time.

Hopefully we get to play against them in the playoffs every year.

Quenneville rolling the dice tonight by going with Jose Theodore in net against Vancouver. Theo is 3-0 against Vancouver at Pepsi Center this season, but this move makes me very nervous. Every game is a must win from here on, but he chooses to go with a netminder who hasn't started in forever and was, let's just say, unimpressive when he did.

He'd better have a quick hook if Theo pisses down his leg early.

Calgary beats Minnesota in the shootout, keeping the pressure on the Avs.

Nothing went right tonight. I don't think they're going to make up seven points. Saying that...if the Avs would have played with the same intensity in their own end all season instead of just the past 15 games or so...they'd already have a spot locked up.
