Default Man tells cops unicorn caused crash

Nice try, buddy. I just have this feeling that the jury won't buy this defense.

BILLINGS, Mont. - A man told police not to blame him for crashing his truck into a light post — it was that unicorn behind the wheel. Prosecutor Ingrid Rosenquist said Phillip C. Holliday Jr. initially denied driving the truck involved in the March 7 crash in Billings. He told officers at the scene that a unicorn was driving, she said.

Holliday, 42, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to felony charges of criminal endangerment and drunken driving.

A pickup truck drove through a red light and nearly struck another truck in the intersection, according to court documents. The driver then made an erratic U-turn through a gas station, crossed the street and crashed into a light pole. Nobody was injured.

Holliday has five drunken-driving convictions. District Judge Gregory Todd kept his bail at $100,000 despite his lawyer arguing that Holliday's last such conviction was 14 years ago.

There main problem is that their horns get stuck in the sun visor and while trying to free it loose focus on the road. It realy isnt there fault. Someone should make a car specialy designed for em.

I'd really enjoy being on that jury.

this isnt a shocker , I was in Glendive Mt , sitting at that truckstop there , saw a car go speeding off ( must have hit 60 mph acrossed the dirt parking lot ) he was moving , never hit a break going onto the road , smacks a pick up , spins out of control hits a light pole , guy gets out unscratched , and is pissed off @ the guy in the pick up ........... lesson learned is people in MT cant drive

I'm not so sure about that. I mean did they find the uni-corn. I bet he simply walked away during all the confusion. I think no dead uni-corn means you cant be charged with "killing and endangered speicies" and without the uni-corn testifying at trial I'm not sure they can get the DUI conviction.

It was a mistake.

Quote:
The mixup occurred when a deputy prosecutor misunderstood an e-mail from a colleague who used the phrase "unicorn defense," thinking it was an actual statement from Holliday, Paxinos said. "Unicorn defense" is a slang term used by prosecutors when a defendant blames some mythical person for a crime, he said.
He had a few too many to drink, but even then he didn't blame a unicorn.
