The draft isn't supposed to be anything specatular this year, so it's not a surprise teams are willing to part with their 1sts.

I've heard nothing spectacular in terms of star power, but that it's a fairly deep draft.

Should Tkachuk re-sign with Atlanta, the Blues will get the Thrashers 2008 1st rounder as well. Holy overpayment, Batman!

Why, oh why aren't the Avalanche out there selling?

No DOUBT! as far as the avs are concerned i hope we don't throw away prospective talent to try and save a season that doesn't need to be saved IMO.

Deep in the sense that you can get the same player at the end of the 1st that you can get in the 3rd. That's why they're willing to give up the picks, they're not missing out on much.

Default Forsberg's first goal a big one as OT marker lifts Nashville over Detroit 4-3

hahahaha peter is still the wingkiller.

Forsberg scored at 2:11 of overtime Saturday night, giving the Predators a 4-3 victory over Detroit and pushing them past the Red Wings into first place in the Central Division.

Karlis Skrastins is out of tonights game with a "knee injury."

OK, either something is up or Skrastins must be hurting bad. Skrastins recently set the NHL record for consecutive games played by a defenseman, so he must be in a real bad way if he's missing this one due to injury.

It's either that or he's about to be traded. Stay tuned.

They said that he took the warm up skate, so it doesn't sound as if it's anything too serious, if it's an injury at all.

I just find it hard to believe that a guy who hasn't missed a game in forever suddenly shuts it down because of a minor knee injury. That could very well be the case, though. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I hate seeing the streak end, for whatever reason. It just irks me.

Honestly, I'd probably have to be institutionalized if that happened.

Not gonna happen.

You don't trade a guy like Sakic unless he asks to be traded and he isn't going to ask.

Still, after looking at the bounty the Blues got for Tkachuk, how much could the Avs get for Sakic? Two words: a lot.

Either way, not gonna happen.

It wasn´t a rumor really, but merely a suggestion. It was in a column on espn.com where one guy called for a "Doug Weight Rule" to rule out loaning out players for the playoffs. But just reading his suggestion that the Stars should be looking to trade for Sakic killed me.

From Spectors:

Chuck Gormley reports Philadelphia Flyers chairman Ed Snider denied his team is rebuilding after trading away Peter Forsberg and Alexei Zhitnik with the last ten days. "No," Snider said sternly. "We don't understand what rebuilding is."

That's just pure comedy right there.
________

I know it's probably wise to let him go, but damnit I don't want Lappy to be traded and his name seems to be coming up a lot. May's a grinder, take him!

May's been rumored to be going to both Buffalo, and Montreal. At least one person said there was interest anyway.

The Avs will probably move Lappy, and hold on to May just to irritate me.

The Avs re-acquire Scott Parker from San Jose for a draft pick. They also dump that clown Brad May. Sending him to the Ducks for goalie Michael Wall.

The Blues send Guerin to San Jose for Ville Nieminin...Jay Barribal and a 1st round pick in '07.

Georges Laraque has reportedly waived his no trade clause and accepted a trade to the Pens for Daniel Carcillo and an 8th round pick.

(details per spectorshockey.net)

I like both moves that the Avs made. They needed a legitimate tough guy, and they got one.

The Blues really cleaned up at the deadline this year.

Pittsburgh trading for the undisputed heavy weight champ of the NHL was a no brainer.

Caps make one trade (Zubrus to Buffalo) and their media guy says on the team site that they think they got another in before the deadline, just waiting for the league to confirm it.

Francois Gigeure better do something spectacular this offseason. He was a seller in a seller's market and only ended up with Scott Parker and Michael Wall. Why not bring back Francois Leroux, as well? Outside of drafting Paul Stastny and signing Andrew Brunnette, Avalanche management has been a disaster since the new CBA was signed.

St. Louis did very well for themselves, getting Brady Boyes and 2 1st round picks for Wideman, Geurin and Tkachuk. The latter two guys will probably re-sign with St. Louis in the offseason.

Got to give the Isles credit for getting a stud in Ryan Smyth. They better re-sign him, though I'll be hoping like hell that the Avs will bring him back West next season.

Mike Keenan looks like even more of an idiot after what Bertuzzi was traded for. He's on TSN right now trying to defend his Luongo trade last year.

So the Sherriff is back in town, eh? Nice to have gotten some grit back at least. I've been so hesitant to check anything all day for fear that Lappy got traded.
