Yep. After we got past the Chief's thing, we talked about the recent expansion quite a bit. He was a really nice guy, really down to earth kind of guy. I think he understands humility.

It is interesting...as big as Blvd Wheat is these days they are pretty set in their ways to keep it in the midwest...not interested in coast to coast expansion...as much as people are pushing them.

www.beer-wine.com is where I get most of my recipes and products, but google "True Brew" (not sure of the website) and you can get a good starter kit with all you need for a decent price.

HEY RED ROCKET! Get outta here, son ... you're too young to drink!
Paulaner is a german brewery. Hefeweissen is what you are looking for, it means "white" or "light"wheat in german. Can't go wrong with Paulaner Hefeweissen.

Here's a great rule I always abide by when choosing a new brew to sample.

NEVER DRINK ANYTHING IN A GREEN BOTTLE!

Hmmm...looks good. How economical is homemade brew, and how is the taste compared to the name brands?

IPA is on draft at a couple of my favorite bars. Very good stuff. It's got a lot of flavor, but is light enough to get drunk off of if you so desire

Once you buy the gear (I have a simple 2, 5 gallon bucket system that cost me about $80, that indcludes bottles, caps, capper, and everything else you need. I can do 2 cases (5 gallons) a week if I wanted to.) a recipe costs between $20 and $45 (2 cases a recipe). It breaks down to about a dollar a beer or less after a few batches. If you have never had non-pasteurized beer, you aren't living. I can't describe it, it just tastes sooo much better. Earthier, richer, fresher, I don't know, you gotta try it.

My mother was born in Old Spanish Town, which is right outside of Kingston Jamaica. I've been there three times as a kid, but I haven't been back as an adult. I'm going this summer. I can't wait.

Is Coors a non-pasteurized beer?

Well I disagree with the green bottle thing. Stella Artwais comes in green, is the european budweiser, and is damn good. Back home my favorite is Mirror Pond, brewed by Desheutes in Portland Oregon. At a sparsely stocked bar, I'll order a budweiser. When I'm drinking cheap I buy Olympia... sadly they will be out of business soon I think. My favorite 40 is Big Bear (really the artwork drags me in) My pet peave is seeing someone drink a PBR 40. PBR is not malt liqueor!!!

BTW Russian beers are expanding, but the current market monopoly is a company called Baltica. They have 10 beers. They're names are Baltica 0, Baltica 1, Baltica 3, Baltica 4 ---Al the way up to 9 (and sometimes a seasonal 10) IMO Balt7 is the best.

Coors is not HEAT pasteurized like normal cans and bottles - it's cold-pasteurized, supposedly, like draft beer.

pasteurized is pasteurized. You'll taste the difference if you enjoy beer. If you've ever had fresh milk (before it met the milking machine) you will know too. I grew up on a ranch. Pasteurization makes it last a lot longer, but it still makes it taste, well, pasteurized.

Pasteurization uses heat, or cold, to kill any bacteria in the liquid being pasteurized. It not only kills the bacteria, but also breaks down the proteins that add a lot of flavor to the beer, or milk, or whatever else you are using old Louis' method on.

Sorry, I guess I need to change my profile. I transferred from Jax to about an hour north of Seattle a few months ago. Can't give you any info there.

I can´t believe what glasses you drink Hefe out of ... that´s blasphemy, pure blasphemy ... a Hefe deserves its own glass. This what you have to drink it out of ...

As for myself ... spring/summer: Erdinger, Paulaner ... fall/winter: Becks, Hasseröder
