OK, so I'm about to get a new laptop.
Basically, what should I look for in terms of RAM and GHz in a Processor? All I use my laptop for is the following: school work (word, excel, powerpoint) partypoker AIM FireFox winamp utorrent/downloading music Sometimes I do all at once, and I'd like it so it doesn't lag. What do I need? I figure I need 1GB of RAM, since I have 512 now and it lags. But uh, what's good for a processor? I don't do online gaming like WoW or anything, and I don't watch movies, just the occasional highlight or youtube clip. |

Get an Intel Centrino 2 Duo processor. Fast chip with low heat and low power consumption plus it's 64bit ready. Toshiba makes great laptops

You know another thing I got with my laptop is an internal wireless card. It may seen dumb but having that thing sticking out drove me nuts in the past. It also has a slot for an external if you ever need it. I have a Dell and it satisfies what I want just fine. There are others out there that are way better though.

I can't imagine how much the advent of wireless technology has helped truckers. I mean with GPS and live satellite tracking and instant information updating it has to help you guys immensly. In theory your rig could be monitored by computer, for example tire pressure and what not. It could help keep you guys running efficiantly as possible and safely as possible.

get 1gb of ram - wireless card - a dual core anything will be nice (64bit isn't a big deal since alot of software and hardware isn't 100% there yet) - |

GPS is a freaking life saver , you just cant turn a rig around when you pass the place where you unload or a trurn off of a 2 lane hiway ......... http://www.randmcnally.com/ right now I use this as my GPS , not as good as a GPS , but it works ........... and it isnt just theory , they monitor rigs 24/7 now big companies do , speed , wieght , route , logs , they know if you have a rider , hell they even have automatic tire chains now ........ proxcimity( sp?) sencers warning you if you are to close to an object ............. |
