![]() Najera is the only one on that list in any danger of being suspended, and he won't be. The others aren't even SEEN in any of the footage of the fight. As for Nene, he'll get a fine for leaving the bench (league rules), but that's it.

![]() By NBA standards, that's a punch. There hasn't been a decent punch thrown in this league since Kermit Washington.

![]() All of those guys were seen moving and shoving around the pile. I dont think that they deserve it, but the possibility is there. Especially for Nene who came off of the bench after Anthony threw the slap.

Nene left the bench but while he looks to be an aggressor it also looks like he was holding some dudes back. Maybe he gets a fine and thats it. |

![]() Of course, but the fact of the matter is that this is nowhere close to what happened in Detroit. They can spin it as much as they like, but this was flat out tame compared to the Palace brawl.

You also have to consider that some of the front row patrons could have lawsuits up their sleeves. The NBA has to take drastic measures. |

They'll dole out suspensions to Anthony, Collins, Robinson, Smith, Nene & (hopefully) Isiah and that will be pretty much be that. |

![]() Dude players go into those seats all the time. Same with the courtside seats. That is expected in most cases. Yeah a fight fell in their laps but half the stadium had left. Looking at the tape it no fan got caught underneath. Most were running already and one guy was kind of chuckling.

As a fan of neither team, I dont have a dog in either hunt. I do see some variables that will cause this to be propagated for awhile and ultimately dealt with severely. 1. Anthony is a budding "superstar", and he will get much more media attention. He threw a slap that caused the thing to become chaotic, and there are several images that will be shown all over the place. The media can focus on Anthony because of his past, and this thing wont die for a couple of weeks. It's a big deal. 2. It went into the front row. 3. It happened right in the belly of the beast. The NY media will push this story hard and villainize Anthony. 4. It has the same chaotic NBA feel and close fan proximity as "the brawl", and has mainstream staying power because of the dramatic images that recall that event. |

![]() Someone posted this on another board, I'll re-post it here for some perspective.
11/21/04 The NBA came down hard with the suspensions for Friday's Ind-Det brawl that involved players going into the stands and punches being exchanged between players and fans. Ron Artest (Ind) was suspended for the rest of the season (72 games). Stephen Jackson (Ind) was suspended for 30 games. Jermaine O'Neal (Ind) was suspended for 25 games. Those total suspensions are upped by 1 game as they do not include Saturday's Ind-Orl game. The Players Association has already stated that they will appeal those 3 suspensions and an arbitrator may eventually reduce the length of those suspensions. All 3 threw punches at fans and Artest and Jackson went into the stands. Anthony Johnson (Ind) was suspended 6 games - he was the player in street clothes who punched a fan on the court right after Artest and the fan had a confrontation. His suspension will not start until he is physically able to play. Ben Wallace (Det) was suspended for 6 games for his two handed shove to Artest's face during the game and for throwing a towel at Artest after the players had been separated. Elden Campbell (Det), Chauncey Billups (Det), Derrick Coleman (Det), and Reggie Miller (Ind) were suspended for 1 game for leaving the bench during the on court altercation between Wallace and Artest. Artest, Jackson, and O'Neal will be listed on a suspended list so Indiana will be able to sign players for their spots while the players are suspended (and, thus, exceed the 15 player roster maximum). Commissioner David Stern: "The penalties issued today deal only with one aspect of this incident that of player misconduct. The actions of the players involved wildly exceeded the professionalism and self-control that should fairly be expected from NBA players. We must affirm that the NBA will strive to exemplify the best that can be offered by professional sports, and not allow our sport to be debased by what seem to be declining expectations for behavior of fans and athletes alike." Stern: "To watch the out-of-control fans in the stands was disgusting. It doesn't excuse our players from going into the stands." The worst suspenions doled out from that whole melee to players who didn't run into the stands and fight with fans was 6 games. All this talk about Carmelo getting 10+ games is completely ridiculous. |

It's not going to be anywhere near as lasting as the Palace brawl.....no matter how much the media wants to morph it into that. |

![]() Damn, first game I'm going to this year is against the Suns this Wednesday, and that was a hedge that they might have AI in uniform for that.
Was listening to the Knicks broadcast on Sirius and up until Anthony threw his "punch", they couldn't stop saying how disgraceful the actions of the Knicks were and how they felt sorry for everyone that came out to MSG tonight. |

![]() The Knicks franchise has sunk to the point where Isiah Thomas is whining about getting embarrassed in front of his home crowd, then sending a thug out to deliver a cheap shot.
Embarrassing. |

![]() I'm pissed at Melo. I really am.
I have followed the Nuggets since I was a little kid. Other than the '94 playoffs I've never had a reason to get excited about the Nuggets, ever, until Melo. Watching him in the 3rd quarter tonight was like a dream. He was unstoppable. And get this. I am in Denver for next 2 and a half weeks. I haven't been home in 3 years, so naturally I have never seen him play. Now, it looks like I STILL may not be able to. Damn you Melo. Totally unnecessary and stupid. |
