Jim Kelly called his own plays for years, but no one called him a genius because of it. If Manning is a 'genius' its because he HAS to study so hard to be on top of his game. Physically, his skills are pro level but nothing extraordinary. So he makes up for it upstairs. Same thing with Brady. There's no one thing that really sticks out, but he makes plays. There's a quarterback law of nature that says: Physical talent = less discipline Mental ability = more discipline Less gifted qbs study harder, work harder. More talented guys tend to be lazy and think they can rely on ability alone. But the true HOFers learn to balance the two and have all around game. It's like the old joke when you don't have as much physical talent, you can't lose as much late in your career. That being said, everyone dosen't age the same either. Some guys have more in the tank at the end. If Dungy called the plays, would people be so breathless over Manning? Funny too, because coming out people weren't that impressed with him, and thought RYAN LEAF was better. Now he's hotter than sex, sliced bread and the hula hoop. Jake has one more week to hide. |

Wow, looks like Mr. Wonderful is human, after all?
Amazing what happens when a swarming defense is putting pressure on a QB all day long, huh? Of course, defenses like New England and Pittsburgh figured that out long ago. Just add Dallas to several other teams this year that were able to hold Indy and Mr. Awesome to 21 points or less, and to the 6 teams that held them under 30. |

It's funny how it's a big deal when guys like Manning have a bad game.
And how it's a big deal when certain other QBs have a good game. God bless how people look at things. |

Dammit, who keeps letting this thread drop?
Yet another team holds indy to respectable numbers.... putting us in an "elite" group of only three teams that have allowed them blow-up scores this season. ![]() |

I wish just once we could play Indy like some of these scrub teams can.
Instead, we let him walk all over us. |

Yea, well... K.C. held them to 23 with almost no offensive output.
We scored THIRTY, and still got fk'd by our "defense." Kind of kills that whole "it's our offense's fault" theory. (Not to mention the "he's awesome", theory.. of course. ) |

What!?
You'd better be a good Orange Mane member and get on the Peyton Train. You shouldn't be upset after he does this to us. You should just be thankful that we got to watch his mastery in person. It's an honor to have Peyton poop on our team. He's awesome! |

That total-denim/high pant-tuck look is coming back.

I have no problem giving Peyton Manning his due. He's going to give John Elway a run for his money in the best ever department in the next ten years... apparently at our expense.
I'm not going to enjoy those debates in the future, because no doubt Peyton's mastery over the Broncos is going to play a role. |
