Saw III and a discussion on movie torture
I've been seeing commercials for this, and every time I see it, it makes me wonder how people can put this kind of crap in their brains. It just seems like a torture flick to me. Do people really enjoy watching torture?
I just don't get it.
I remember in college, some of the guys in the fraternity went out and bought a bunch of Faces of Death and had a marathon. I didn't like the idea at all, but morbid curiosity being what it is compelled me to hang for a second. I got sick after the first three minutes and left while these idiots are laughing (and even squirming a bit) at the misfortunes of others. I just couldn't fathom it.
So back to Saw, morbid curiosity being what it is, I went online to read the plot synopsises of all three movies. Sounds pretty stupid to me... like a halfass storyline constructed around the idea of torturing a bunch of people while trying to sound clever and advance the idea that there are instances when torture is perfectly acceptable, and even desirable.
What say you?
