Things to do in Denver - The Orange Mane

Shack and I will be going to the Oakland game next week along with the wives.

I haven't been in Denver for 8 years, and it's been just as long for Shack. The wives have never been. This trip is also serving as a selling point for me personally; to convince the wife that Denver would be a good place to live.

So what would you guys recommend we do Saturday, Sunday, and part of Monday?

FYI...We will be staying near Cherry Creek and we are renting a car.

My wife is a culinary, culture, and shopping snob if that matters

Shopping: Cherry creek mall, just keep them out of "sonny's on Filmore" unless you're looking to spend $$$ for unusual jewelry.
Culture: the new Art's center just opened up.
Dining: way to many options, depends on your taste!

Check out Washington Park. It's close to where you are staying. You can take a walk around the park and check out the cool houses. This place will be busy on Friday PM, all day Sat. weather permitting.

Great dining all around Cherry Creek. For a good burger go to the Cherry Cricket in Cherry Creek North (I think it's at 2nd and just east of University) For some great Italian Food try Carmine's on Penn. Locally owned family style Italian place. Reservations recommended. Gov'nrs Park is a great bar with a great happy hour (4-7 everyday) A good Asian Restaurant in Cheery Creek is Little Ollie's.

The new art Museum just opened up downtown. I've heard good things so far.

What kind of stuff are you all looking to do Rascal (Hike, bike ride, etc)?

If you are near Cherry Creek than the Mall is where she wants to be! Check out the neighborhoods there also, very nice. If i moved to Denver, this is where I would buy. Not sure what your housing budget is but this is one of the nicest hoods in Denver. We are trying to get a group together for some eating experience at the Brazilian Meat fest. 45 different types of meat and a few veges to "balance" it out. It can cost $45 per person but worth trying out. Close to the Union station/coors field (LoDo). If interested, we can book a reservation for whoever wants to pig out on meat! Sports Column other choice or after dinner. Watch some late games and drink some more. Other things to do is tailgate for 5 to 6 hours. I am not sure how your wives are on that idea, but they can take the train from 16th street mall later in the day if they want to sleep/shop/movie etc. Good Luck.

For yourself checkout Bill's Sports Collectibles on Broadway. You can spend a day looking at all the old Bronco as well as other sports stuff. Found a wall schedule from the year of my first Bronco game '81 against the Raiders as well as a game program from that one. My 25 anniversary of being a Bronco fan so I will be coming in for the Raiders this week.

Well I'm not looking at buying a house any time soon, and I'm pretty sure anything in the Cherry Creek area is outside my price range at my current salary. Although if I get a engineering job in Denver I should be making at least 85k I would think. Not sure how much of a house that would buy in Denver.

I don't know if we are going to have time to do any biking, hiking, etc. I'd love to go to Rocky Mountain National Park but I'm not sure we will have time for that.

She would probably like the Arts Museum though, and she probably wouldn't be opposed to Cherry Creek Mall although my wallet will. She went to Nordstroms in one of the Dallas malls this past weekend...OUCH!!!

Keep the ideas rolling.

They just officially reopened the Art Museum..I hate Euro trash, but its a pretty cool building... Sushi Den..a dont miss in Denver ( Ive been all over the Pacific, and this is the best hands down.) Now thats thats done...

15th Street Tavern..put the wives to bed go get drunk and get into a fight...
get a cab... go to either La Boheme (you can walk) or Shotguns.
Stay at either place til 2am....
get a cab to Pete's (Colfax & Vine (I think)) eat breakfast...get a cab back to the hotel...
go to game the next day...
