Ok, so were just starting using photoshop in photography class. after tinkering with it for about 15 minutes, i havent really figured anything out. the first problem is that were on macs and mac mouses which suck so you end up circle jerking the mouses to move from one button to another. i was wondering what tips yall have for just getting started? im thinking about buying photoshop for at home so that i can use it after im done with the class for fun and also to ahve more time to learn on it. ive heard that basically you just have to use it a ton to figure it all out. any tips?

First tip I have, do some tutorials, either the ones located here or others found online throughout the web. There are literally millions of them out there. Generally they get you familiar with the various tools and what is possible, using 1 or more tricks in each tutorial to help you learn.
Too big to just start from scratch. |

is it true that photoshop cost 500 dollars? holy crap. at school we use photoshop CS and i just searched it on amazon, it sed like 549, wow, no wonder the school district has a budget crisis, must have bought it in mass if its on all 15 computers. maybe i wont be buying it for at home.

Also, since you are very new to photoshop there is a scaled down version for home users called Photoshop Elements. It goes for ~$100, and while it's not as robust as Photoshop it would probably take you quite awhile to get around to using the more advanced Photoshop tools anyway. Hope that helps! |

Or you could, *cough cough*, download it off of Limewire, but I didn't say that.
