.....and still doesn't go to jail. Gee, I wonder why athletes believe that they're above the law?
Bears | Manning Jr. pleads no contest to assault charge Tue, 26 Sep 2006 18:21:34 -0700 The Associated Press reports Chicago Bears CB Ricky Manning Jr. pleaded no contest to a felony assault charge Tuesday, Sept. 26. Manning was charged from an attack on a man in a restaurant in April. He was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to attend a year of anger management counseling, according to the district attorney's office. Manning was also ordered to complete 100 hours of community service with a municipality or public agency or nationally recognized philanthropic organization not associated with the team. Remember, this was the incident where Ricky and his buddies were at a Denny's and spotted a guy at another table who dared to be sitting there with his laptop open, minding his own business. No way that these he-men were gonna let that slide, they proceeded to harass and eventually assault the poor guy. I hope he sues Manning's sorry ass and ends up getting his entire signing bonus. |

I would like to know how the thought process of these judges go in situations like this... I'm guessing that he figured if the guy did any time, he'd lose his job as a high paid athelete, and probability says he'd become nothing more than a menace to society. So I'm guessing that he's leaving it up to the organization to police him with a stipulation that says if he's in court again, he get the book thrown at him and does time for both cases... That's just blind guessing though.
Can't say that I'm a fan of the logic if that's truly how it went down. Last edited by Taco John; 09-26-2006 at 08:30 PM.. |

This kind of mindless violence is a prime example of why I will always carry a concealed firearm when I turn 21 or become an LEO, whichever happens first.
Ricky Manning better think about that next time. Depending on the location, had that man had a concealed firearm, he would have been well within his legal right to shoot and possibly kill Manning. |

I love professional sports and I always will, but I hate professional athletes a little more every day.

Explain to me how a guy ends up with a name like Ricky Manning Jr., and isn't a Nascar driver?
