We don't have the money to spend to be competitive. Last year was the first time that the LG actually spent some money, and even then, the most lavish we could afford to be was still 6 million under the cap. We don't have a choice. We can't control that. It's not like Craig Patrick was sitting there saying, lets just suck for 5 years in a row so we can hoard all these draft riches and I can lose my job. In fact, as fans, going through all the **** that we have gone through, I would submit that we deserve to have all these studs. After we got to the Eastern finals in 2001, our fanbase has endured nothing but suffering on and off the ice. The product has sucked, and the government has repeatedly acted in bad faith on the arena issue (actually this goes back to the late 90s). NOTHING went right for us for the last five years, except for the occasional flashes of brilliance from MAF and obviously Crosby. WE DESERVE STUDS after going through that ****. Anyway, that top 5 streak will end this year.

Klesla puts Ruutu out for a month with a filthy knee on knee hit and, as usual, gets a slap on the wrist from the NHL for it. Some things never change. ![]() |

If you haven't been to one of the Avs preseason games, you probably aren't aware that they are changing their goal song. This of course has to do with the controversy surrounding the creator of Rock & Roll Part II.
Fans can pick between four different songs on the Avs website. http://www.coloradoavalanche.com/new...ils.asp?ID=625 Be warned, they are pretty lame and "Crowd Chant" is probably the best of the bunch. |

The boys will probably skate to the bench with their heads down after scoring a goal. Out of sheer embarassment. I guess we're just lucky that Karma-chameleon wasn't an option, eh? |

I'm surprised that "If You're Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands" wasn't an option.

Bad news for Flyers fans. Niittymaki tore the labrum in his hip and could be out 6-8 weeks. |

With those choices I'd rather the Avs go old school and play organ tunes ala EA Sports' Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo classics NHLPA 93, NHL Hockey 94, NHL 95 (the greatest video hockey game ever), NHL 96, and NHL 97.
For being such a great organization over the years, the Avalanche still make some absurd decisions, like signing Brad May, hiring Doug McLeod as play-by-play announcer last year, letting Thomas Dolby play (and get booed off the ice) during one of the 2001 All-Star game intermissions, these lame choices to replace Rock and Roll Part II, etc etc etc. |

Yes it is. It's right here if you want to play it from your PC. http://www.games4win.com/freeware-games/27/ Scroll down about half the page. I enjoyed hearing those organ tunes again after not playing that game in many years, although the Ducks Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean tune is just as gay as I remembered it.

NHL 98 for the Playstation had great graphics for its time, but it didn't have nearly as good of gameplay as its 16-bit predecesors. |

REP! Anyone that mentions NHL 94 or 95 gets props from me. One of my favorite scenes in the movie "SWINGERS", was when Vince Vaughn was playing the Blackhawks and was bragging about how he can knock players out of the game and said he could knock Gretzky out. Then the Pizza guy came and his opponent got the door. Vince Vaughn unpaused it and knocked out Gretz and a brawl ensued. Funny scene.
