I'm worried about Brandon Marshall ... he has yet to catch a ball in any game, not even pre-season. We knew going in that the pick was just a flyer, after all - didn't he play safety in college?
I wonder who else was available at that pick in the fourth round, because it doesn't look like we'll be getting much out of the guy. No WONDER we picked up Quincy Morgan ... and I can't wait for Domenik Hixon to heal - maybe he can do somthing to make up for the Marshall pick. Let's hope Quincy Morgan can pick up the offense quickly. |

If you're counting on rookie receivers to produce you must think everyone is a Randy Moss. Most receivers take 3 years before you know they're a bust or not, hence Ashley Lelie and Darius Watts. Now, Lelie wasn't a bust; he just turned out to be a little better than average. Watts was a bust.
Marshall's been hurt and because of that he hasn't been able to get on-the-field training. Shanahan's got one of the more complicated offenses. I believe Marshall had a catch against Detroit, but I could be wrong. Hixon also has been hurt. Give these guys a break. Fans need not panic about anything so early in the season. We're not even 0-2! |

Lets not run any of the WR's out of town until Jay is once again at the helm. He made many of the subpar looking guys right now seem like world beaters. We need a pocket QB with an arm to fully exploit many of the young kids talents. Let them learn the system and grow, we shall see them soon enough. First year WR never ever produce.

Sounds like he's not ready for how physical this game is in "the big leagues." |

People are saying its way too soon to judge Brandon, but most of them have already judged him and decided he's a future starter and key to the offense. Bottom line is he was available in round four in a weak WR class. People are going to be really disappointed if he doesn't pan out, but the odds are against him.

I think the fact that he wasn't placed on IR suggests that Shanahan and Co think highly of him. Like anything else, we'll see what happens, but the kid has shown something.

Our QB has a 36.8 passer rating. Hard to rip any WR or TE at this point.

I think it's premature to freak out about Brandon Marshall, just like it's too early to say he is going to be a stud
we just don't know, he was injured in preseason and he is just now getting up to tempo of a real game whatever happens with him, happens |

Well, Brandon has shown the Denver penchant for dropping balls right in his hands as he dropped a sure 15 yard gain right in his hands that Jake threw to him.
But, Im sure somehow that will be Jake's fault too. |

Buff, it's just too early to tell at this point. Slap is right...some of the early camp enthusiasm may eventually go the way of Darius Watts and Adrian Madise, but two games is not going to tell the tale. He missed a lot of valuable reps with that knee injury. Rookie WRs, even ones who eventually become good players, don't generally start kicking ass from day one. Will we get much out of Marshall this season? Hard to say...it seemed like we would early on, but missing so many reps in August may hold him back for awhile. He has some catching up to do. But even if doesn't make a big impact this season, that won't mean he's a failed picked. Again, most WRs struggle as rookies, even good ones.

Good lord this is a dumb thread. We can't realistically evaluate anyone at this point of the season -- it's been like a Twilight Zone non-season thus far. Nothing will hold true extended out over the course of the full season. Does Jake truly suck this bad? Has the O-line lost its mojo? Is Rod done? Are thr rookies whiffs? I don't have any idea at this point.
And neither do any of you. |

You can't judge anyone by a few preseason games and 2 regulars season games in which our offense has done pretty much nothing. No one can say right now that guys like Cutler and/or Marshall will be great or busts in the NFL.
We are 2 games into the season with a record of 1-1 and people are saying put Cutler in he will do amazing and some say the same about Marshall and now some are doubting Marshall. |

Plus, he is getting fourth WR reps in practice. Hard to develop chemistry with Plummer that way. |

I think it also probably had to do with playing at a small school and his limited experience as a receiver. He was converted from safety either his sophmore or junior year (can't remember which). I think his senior season was the only one where he posted good looking numbers, and players like that sometimes slip under the cracks of evaluation.

I am just glad Jojo's Kircus (if anyone has kids that watch the disney channel they will get the play on words) made a couple of decent catches late in the KFC game while Hot Rod was out with the concusion. Walker came up big late also.
I am hoping things settle down a bit this week & we see a more determined squad on the offensive side of the ball. I have no faith in Plummer, he is a Vet so Shanny is starting the Vet QB so he does not lose the faith of the other vets that are working hard to win. If Shanny started a Rookie Qb I think he feels he may lose the team outright, just my take. To get back to your take BB I am glad at that we don't need a rookie to start at #3 at WR. I would be concerned if we had to start him right away & depend on him for production! |

I wouldn't worry too much about it yet. Heck Vincent Jackson was a second rounder and he was injured all last year with a achilles/calf sprain. Didn't do anything until the Indy game, and even then it was only for two catches (although they were quite nice catches IMO).
