A good lesson to be learned from him... Animals may be beautiful, fascinating, worth protecting etc. but they are also WILD and live by different "rules" than we normally do. i.e. Kill or be Killed

I posted it on the main board so it would be seen. Any mod can move it at any time. It probably is time to move it or let it drop onto the second page. Makes no difference to me. I thought it was an interesting if sad story. The most ironic thing is how he lived fearlessly yet was taken out by an animal he no doubt didn't even see. They hide in the sand. He just had the horrible luck to have the barb pierce his heart with poison. I always thought he was crazy, but found it amusing because that's what he chose to do. The odds of being struck in the heart are astronomically small. Usually they will just hit your leg or buttocks and while very painfull, isn't life threatening. That ray just had his number.

How ever bizarre he may have been, you have to admire a person who lives their life with the passion that he did.

Slap,

I think it shows a tremendous amount of respect to dedicate your life (literally in this case) to teaching people about the creatures he was so passionate about. You may never have pried an animal from it's habitat, but I've doubt you've taught anyone about those same animals either, or inspired passion in people to protect those habitats from development or many other things that are much more detrimental than a guy with a camera.

I'm sure you work for nothing too, right?

He was dead already so why linger and suffer all the more? Besides, do you think ANYONE wouldnt do exactly the same when stuck like that out of the blue and unaware? Its one of the most painful things going if it just hits your ankle ... you can just imagine the jolt right through the rib cage into the heart!

I'm sure pulling it out was a spilt second instinctive reaction and he lost consciousness in the same moment as his blood pressure crashed.

With the toxin directly in the heart as well as the large barb that pierced it, he was done for the moment he got in the water Monday! What are the odds of that? 10 billion to one that a Sting ray would get him, and furthermore, with a direct hit to the heart when he wasnt even mucking with it!

It was simply his time. The guy was so full of life, and with a larger than life persona it seems that his candle wasn't mean't to burn long. But you can tell what a great guy he was and how genuine on and off the camera by the sincere and heartfelt outpouring of love and affection he is recieving from all those he touched and who knew him best.

They had a moving tribute to him on Larry King Live yesterday that is really worth seeing if and when they replay it.

RIP Steve!

Some of the "board police" that continually complain about where a thread is posted...or if a second thread about a link pops up...whatever! If you don't want to read it, don't click on it. Some of you guys have way to much time on your hands.

Screw you, hick.

People get tired of seeing football threads slide off the front page so some jackass can post whatever the **** he pleases on the main board.

The forum rules are set by the board adminstrator, a fellow by the name of Taco John. If you don't like it, go post somewhere without restrictions.

NICE!

No wonder no one likes you.

Obviously, the board admin, has no problem with this being on the front page which is why it has been here for the last few days.

NO, NO my friend, if you don't like it, you leave...I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be glad if you did.

As for the "hick" comment...get a freaking clue. I have more education and licenses than you realize.

I have shoveled **** before though....

Nobody likes Slap?

...Slap is probably one of the favorites on this board while you are a moronic nobody that the majority would just assume leave.

In no way was this post made because of ongoing FF trade negotiations.

My guess is that it isn't moved cause there's nada zip zero football news this week. We've had two reruns of the Jake/Jay soap opera, and that's it, plus the toronto wants a team.

just a friendly caution, if you post or even lurk on a board, don't ever tell others they have too much time on their hands. Sorta leaves you open to the hyporcritical charge.

Never said it was a popularity contest. But your statement "No wonder no one likes you" indicates otherwise.

With 600 some posts in 3 years is it worth the effort? Besides we might miss you swallowing Adrian next time.

Back to the actual thread so it's no hijacked further....

Has the video been released? I know Steve said he wanted to go down on camera, but I don't think it's in his families best interest. Hopefully it gets destroyed before going public.

The producer said "very few" will see it. I've no interest, but imo there's a lot of the population that would watch live executions of criminals involving ropes and nooses if not actual sharp instruments used to carve off flesh.

Wouldn't surprise me if the bootleg copies of the tape are already to be dumped on the public. Wouldn't surprise me if CBS has it in hand and is preparing to use it to promote Katie Couric.

Of course then the conspiracy folk will be out with proof that he was killed by a ray trained for the task by Jauque Cousteau because his territory was being threatened.

I'm sure it will be on youtube by the end of the week. Those that want to see it will get to.

Good I wouldnt want it released. There is no reason for it to be, what just so a heartless moron can get his jollys. If people want to see someone die join the army and request to go to Iraq I'm sure they will have a blast there.

I can really see someone trying to buy the tape in the name of "aid for the family". Don't understimate the morbid curiousity of people...
