Default How much is %&@#ing gas where you live?

The gas prices go up and so does my blood pressure accordingly. What's the damage where you live right now? Someone from CO post so I know what to expect there. Plus, I heard it's going up around 20 cents this week...

Reg unleaded is $3.09 here.

Yeah? Well when adjusted for inflation.......We're still paying low prices...do you know how much they pay for a gallon in Europe? Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Just wanted to get all the bullshat justification remarks out of the way early....really MTN, you should feel somewhat lucky, where I'm at, it's already $3.20...tack on another 20 cents to that (although I expect higher before it's over). You know, I can understand that they need to overhaul the pipeline and all this and that it's 8% of our oil and that prices will increase...what pisses me off if that when the pipeline is fixed the price of a gallon of gas will not go back down. People can say that it will, but those same people said that the over $2.00 per gallon was only a temp. thing......they were right, we had gas in the $2.00 range for roughly 2 years, that's over now, you'll never see it that cheap again.

Resentment is riding high......real high in these quarters.

I hear ya, Hogan. I knew you'd be one to commiserate with me. We're headed to CO on Friday. A freakin road trip with gas at these prices and a vehicle that doesn't get great mileage. What are we thinking?

Man, $2 gas sounds like a bargain right now.

I'm just glad I got my plane tickets back in April.

That drive to Cleveland though in October is gonna hurt...unless things change by then. I'm not holding my breath.

I get so tired of hearing that "justification". And let's not forget the liter and Imperial Gallon are smaller quantities than a US Gallon...

And let's not forget the European auto manufacturers reacted to overcrowded traffic conditions decades ago so the gas prices essentially went up there because people drive mini's which hav 60 mile per gallon driving ranges. Europeans probably still have less fill ups per year than the average American. And I'm talking those of who drive somewhat economical cars and not vehicles which can be spotted with the naked eye from the moon. Japan has huge public transit systems.

Anyone who buys the theory it's okay to pay here what they pay in Europe or Japan is just eating another bite of shoveled you know what sandwiches.

So you guys want to hear something really crappy about this whole octane deal? We have a friend who has a shop ( mechanic ). A couple of weeks ago, I had a light come on in my car. I looked in the manual and it said it could be a few things. One being a loose gas cap, two being bad gas, three...I can't remember. We had just filled up the tank though....hmmm.

I was worried we were going to have to replace one of those expensive sensors. My husband thought it was an oxygen sensor. Turns out it was the oxygen sensor being affected...from cheap gas.

I don't know if this is just here or what, but apparently they are putting more sulphur in gas these days which leads to crappy gas. I'm cheap, I use reg unleaded, and I noticed I haven't been getting the mileage I got last summer. Putting this sulphur in the gas affects the octane levels, I guess. Therefore if you're buying premium gas, at this point, you're only getting regular unleaded mileage out of it. So us cheapos that are buying regular have definitely downgraded.

When I add this to these outrageous prices that I'm paying for crappy gas, it makes me oh so much happier.

I don't know what the price is here today, but I filled up right before the accident! Sounds petty, but I wanna go cyphen the gas outta my vehicle before someone else does! Sheesh...I wonder if the insurance company will repay that as a claim? *sigh*

But hey - the fact that both the prez and the vice prez are oil men who enlisted Ken Lay to write America's energy policy in secret meetings closed to the public is just a coincidence, right?

I think I paid $2.89 the other day. When prices hit $3.25 I'm going to hitch a trailer up to the horse and tow the tailgating gear down colfax. The hell with it.

i found a station for 2.83. But doesn't help I commute thirty miles each way to work and school so every day basically. Suddenly golf carts seem all the rage in my neighborhood seen three in the past week on the streets.

More oil company dirty tricks

Greg Palast has an expose on the Alaskan pipeline break. I wish Congress could investigate these incidents but they will be in recess soon. Where are they when you need 'em?

Excerpt:
Quote:

Now let’s talk timing. BP’s suddenly discovered corrosion necessitating an emergency shut-down of the line is the same corrosion Dan Lawn has been screaming about for 15 years. Lawn is a steel-eyed government inspector who has kept his job only because his union’s lawyers have kept BP from having his head.

Indeed, it’s pretty darn hard for BP to claim it is surprised to find corrosion this week when Lawn issued a damning report on corrosion right after a leak and spill were discovered on March 2 of this year.

Why shut the pipe now? The timing of a sudden inspection and fix of a decade-long problem has a suspicious smell. A precipitous shutdown in mid-summer, in the middle of Middle East war(s), is guaranteed to raise prices and reap monster profits for BP. The price of crude jumped $2.22 a barrel on the shutdown news to over $76. How lucky for BP which sells four million barrels of oil a day. Had BP completed its inspection and repairs a couple years back — say, after Dan Lawn’s tenth warning — the oil market would have hardly noticed.

But $2 a barrel is just the beginning of BP’s shut-down bonus. The Alaskan oil was destined for the California market which now faces a supply crisis at the very height of the summer travel season. The big winner is ARCO petroleum, the largest retailer in the Golden State. ARCO is a 100%-owned subsidiary of … British Petroleum.
