Default The official mathmeticians thread

I tried this on broncomania and it worked pretty well.
Simply math.

Post a math problem. (anything you know the answer to)
the next guy solves it and posts his own.

y=2x-3
2y=-x+2
where do the lines intersect?

1) Prove that the rationals are countable.

To be countable in mathematics, a set must be either finite or infinite, but able to be mapped to the natural numbers.

2) Prove that the irrationals are uncountable.

In other words, prove that the irrationals are infinite and that they can't be mapped to the natural numbers.

3) What is Kurt Gödel's incompleteness theorem and what are it's implications??
