JCPenney sold 45's at the time, in '72 or '73.

Rode my bike all the way to Westminster Plaza for these bad boys.

Wasn't Malo Santana's brother?

My first was Surfin USA by the Beach Boys with my birthday money. My parents took me and my girlfriends to see their concert when they came. I wanted to wear my surf shirt but my mom made me wear a dress. UGH!

Bought this one. Dropped some acid with some friends to go to their concert, got off very well, went to the concert and it was cancelled. What a trip!

be prepared to be embarassed by my coolness. In 1982 it was a Bruce Springstreen tape. I can't remember which one though. But, before I toot my horn too much I must confess that Michael Jackson's Thriller was also one of my originals.

You mean with my own money?

That would have to be "Lost and Found" and "Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore" by Humble Pie - both purchased at the King Soopers in Evergreen, CO. c. 1972.

My folks were pre-boomers who hated rock and roll, so I had to wait until I was old enough to get a job to buy records (and guitars, amps, etc.)

Purchased "Wind of Change" and "Frampton's Camel" by Peter Frampton for ~$3.50 each at a head shop/record store called "Cinderhead" in Cinderella City (anybody remember that place?) in Denver c. 1973.

Paul McCartney & WIngs Band on the Run.

I then learned the disappointment of having paid all my money for an album that only had one song on it I liked. I think I was 7 or 8 at the time.

Around Easter 1968... Hendrix and before that, The Animals... House of the Rising Sun. I think I still have them somewhere.

The first record I ever bought was a 45 of Pilot's "Magic"

First LP I ever got was Jethro Tull's "Stand Up" album. The first one I ever bought was Boston's ST album.

First LP for me: S&C Greatest Hits.

Don't laugh ... 'The Beat Goes On,' still love love love that song. 'Baby Don't Go' too.

Drum keeps poundin' a rhythm to the brain.
