Default OT - Good sipping drinks? Not for under 21.

So here I am enjoying a afternoon glass of Grand Marnier and surfing the internet and it got me thinking. What are some other good liquor, liqueurs, cordials or whatever that can be sipped on, "neat or "on the rocks"?

Go.

I tend to go with Crown Royal when I drink whiskey. Never had Makers Mark. Might try it.

I was just at an Albertson's and they had both of them there. So I bet whatever national chain supermarket is in your area would carry it. Albertson's Safeway, Fry's (Kroger), etc.

Another two places I know for sure are BevMo and Total Wines and More, but I don't know if you have those (they're basically beer/wine/liquor superstores).

In VA the state controls liquor sales so can only buy from the ABC store. I've heard of Total Wines but have never seen one.

Ah, O.K. I didn't know what an ABC store was.

In that case, I don't really have any advice other than to call around a bit! Sorry!

When I lived in Pa, the beer and liquor stores were seperate. Very odd...but they did sell beer and wine in grocery stores...wierd place, PA.

It is Richmond, north and south of the river. They might have opened more.

I bartended for a good long while and you are the first person I have ever encountered that like sambuca. I personally couldn't even sniff the stuff.

I just developed somewhat of a taste for black licorice when I was younger (although I still liked the sweet red version better), and then I encountered liquor that tasted just like it. It was so different from anything else I'd ever had, it really grew on me and now it's one of my very favorite liqueurs. I really should buy some coffee beans so I can throw 3 of them in there like you're supposed to.

Try absinthe, it's potent and delicious.

I have a bottle of Lucid. It's O.K. As far as taste goes though, it doesn't measure up to sambuca (more alcohol in it, though!).

Lots of people liked it where I bartended back in the day, but we had a big European tourist crowd in the summers. Very big over there, as is Campari.
