So, I had started this before, but had it deleted (I think) for reasons I won't bore you with. Instead I will bore you with other details.
Currently I live about 25 miles outside of London in a town called Beaconsfield. It's a lovely village, near the train so I can go into London as I please (have been there 6 or 7 times so far). I am now a 10 minute commute from my office (In Colorado I commuted 140 miles a day from the Springs to Littleton and back). I now walk to the grocery store and little shops nearby to pick up things for my flat (a four bedroom 2 bath flat fully furnished, including gym equipment I wanted in one of the extra rooms). I bought a used Honda Civic which sits in a tiny garage at my flat. The weather here has been about 85% sunshine and warm since I got here in March. Some rain, but nothing too bad. I have done a # of the touristy things, the Tower, Jack the Ripper Walk, Open top bus tours, Windsor, etc. London is a great city and I enjoyed my theater visits (theater is so great and so much cheaper sometimes). I love the National Gallery, wonderful art. Still so much to see and do in London and England I am very excited to be here (most of the time). Getting settled is not always easy, utility companies don't except my American accounts to set things up. But it's smoothing out. The food and of course beer here (though I tend to drink the Irish and Belgian stuff the most) are great. Cheese is insanely good and the produce is very good. I miss some American conveniences and items (protein shakes and things are more difficult to get and more expensive, but I have found ordering things on line and having them sent to my APO address works quite well). But all in all, I am enjoying my stay. The English, most of them, are quite polite and some of them are hysterically funny. In fact, I found a new favorite show (though it's actually not on the air currently) called Manstrokewoman...seriously cracks me up... Next week I go on a cruise to the Baltics, to include St. Petersburg, Norway, Sweden, Germany, and a few other ports. Can't wait to really see more, but this is a start... |

Fun! Did you move there just because, or for a specific job?

Job, but I could've stayed in Denver too, which I will return to in 3 years, but the idea of seeing the world just seemed like the right thing to do..

thanks for the insight into the little nuances of moving to different part of the globe---no Myoplex in England, huh? Do you workout a lot? (and if so--any pics?

![]() Alas, I am just trying to get back into shape so I somehow doubt my pics are what you want, though I do have a charming smile. As for venturing northward, not yet, but when my friend comes at Thanksgiving we may go to Scottland then. Next week I head out on a cruise that takes me all over the Baltic region...should be fun.. Kingslynn? Hmm, perhaps I will look that up and say do you know a guy name Bronx and show them your avatar...or maybe that would be wrong. ![]() |

Man I am jealous. I want someone to offer me a job for a few years somewhere cool.
Make the most of it! When you come back you'll miss it a lot and those three years will seem like they flew by, even if its slow going now. |
