john lynch - Maybe
troy palamalu - Yes adrian peterson - Way too early, on the path though larry fitzgerald - Same as All Day ben rothlisberger - Probably bc he is a Steeler domenik hixon - No champ bailey - Lock ty law - Maybe eventually edgerrin james - No kurt warner - Hmm, possibly torry holt - Yep, he will finish in the top 5 WRs in yardage albert haynesworth - One (albeit ****ing awesome) season down, 10 more to go ladanian tomlinson - Depends on how he finishes, probably though antonio gates - Doubtful andre johnson - He keeps it up for about 13 year career and he will calvin johnson - If he stays with the Lions his whole career, no, might have a shot if he leaves though ed reed - No kerry collins - No brian urlacher - Bear...yes warren sapp - Probably, loud mouth and media favorite nmdandi asomugha - Very young but has a promising career ahead of him, maybe brian dawkins - Doubtful ryan clady - Come on, he's a rookie. If he continues like he did this year for the rest of his career he is a lock though. randy moss - Sadly, he probably will. |

Lynch NO Not a playmaker. Lott is the only safety in the HOF who played in the last 30 years. It's tough to get into the Hall as a safety.
Polomalu YES More of a game changer than Lynch. Adrian Peterson YES Barring a castrophic injury ala Billy Sims, he's going to have a career similar to Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson. Larry Fitzgerald YES Should be the best WR in football during the next 2-3 years. Calvin Johnson is the only guy I see challenging him for his throne. Ben Roethlisberger YES He doesn't get enough credit for his improvisional skills. He's even had some big time statistical seasons (2007). Champ Bailey YES Mainly because of his all-around play, but he won't get in on the first ballot. Ty Law NO I would vote for him, but I think he's going to have a tough time getting in until 20-30 years down the road. This generation's Lester Hayes. His departure from the Patriots will hurt him, but it shouldn't. In 2005 with the Jets, he was still playing at an All-Pro level. He should have been the MVP of Super Bowl XXXVI. Edgerrin James YES It's going to take him awhile, but when you look at his career he has a strong case. His peak is pretty strong. Two time NFL rushing champion. 4 1500+ plus rushing seasons. Kurt Warner YES Won't get in on the first ballot, but here's a stat that will blow you away, he has the highest percentage of 300 yard games in NFL history by a wide margin. It's not even close. Torry Holt YES The NFC's Marvin Harrison for many years. Albert Haynesworth NO He definitely has the window to get there, but when you look at his career, he has two great seasons. He needs more and the odds are against him when you look at the history of how DTs perform when they get into their late 20s-early 30s. LaDainian Tomlinson YES Slam Dunk Antonio Gates YES His numbers will get him there. Look at some of the TEs who are already there (Jackie Smith, Charlie Sanders, Dave Casper). Andre Johnson NO Injuries have set him back during his career. I think he's in a spot where he needs to run off 4 or 5 Pro Bowl seasons in a row to make up for lost time. Calvin Johnson YES Look what he did last year. Imagine what he would do with some talent around him. Ed Reed YES Slam dunk. Best safety since Lott and Ken Houston. Kerry Collins NO Vinny Testaverde has a better case. Brian Urlacher NO He needs a year where he makes big plays and competes for a NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. Warren Sapp YES The best DT in the post-Randy White/Lee Roy Selmon era. Nmandi Asomugha NO I wonder how he's going to age cover skills wise. He's had some thread on him already and only about three outstanding seasons to his credit. He needs about 4 or 5 more to have a chance. Brian Dawkins NO I would vote for him, but safeties have a tough time garnering attention, i.e. Dennis Smith, Steve Atwater, Carnell Lake, Ryan CladyYES Randy Moss YES Biggest slam dunk after LT and Reed on this list. You say two safeties will get in but then say only Lott in the last 30 years has got in?
Then say, twice, that safeties have a tough time getting in? |

Reed is the best safety in the last 20 years. Has a Defensive Player of the Year award. A handful of INTs, TDs and big plays. He transcended the position. Polomalu has two Super Bowl rings. Voters like All-Pros on championship teams. That's the primary reason I chose him. In terms of playmaking, Lynch and Dawkins don't stand out. They fall short in that regard. That's why I said no for them. Last edited by Sacked by Croel; 06-02-2009 at 12:33 AM.. |
