Default Why the sale of Rocky Mountain news?

Wife works for E.W. Scripts and said that Rocky Mountain News (one of their newspapers) was being sold. Any one have any idea why. Just asking since allot of you guys live in the area. Is it just a bad paper or is something else wrong.

They have lost something like $9,000,000 this year.

If its not sold its getting shut down.

It's the best newspaper in town.

I sure hope it survives.

Unfortunately, people seem to prefer to get their news online. They're not buying hard copy newspapers like they used to, and it's a shame. I remember reading the newspaper as a kid when eating breakfast. I still read the newspaper at lunch if I'm not taking it "to go". I'd love to hear a viable solution to reverse the trend, but I'm not sure if there is one. The internet age is killing newpapers...

Why would anybody buy a newspaper when you can read it online for free? If they want to save the industry why don't they charge people to read the newspaper online? I'd pay a small online fee to the RMN if it meant saving the paper. I happen to know some of the reporters personally and let me tell you if it wasn't for them watching what our local government is doing behind closed doors the people of Colorado would have no idea what is really going on. Scary IMO.

Its just the trend these days. While there will always be some sort of need for paper many things are becoming obselete. I still read the paper copies on the weekends as thats when I get the paper. I don't use it enough to get it during the week when its available on the internet.
