A.I is a good fit in denver the last time he had great talent around him he took his team to the chip. But then when he was the captain of the usa olympics team he took his team to only a bronze medal.

I think it is an unbelievable steal for the Nuggets if Carmello and iverson can find a way to play together

I'm cautiously optimistic. Andre Miller was adequate at the point but wasn't the type of PG that could maintain the running game style the Nuggets are striving for this year.

Plus, it will open up some of the one-on-one opportunities for 'Melo with AI and JR on the perimeter. Fewer double teams will generate better passing lanes and more easy scoring opportunities.

In 82-83, Alex and Kiki were 1-2 in scoring. Perhaps that could happen again with 'Melo and AI. They'll each get their points because the Nuggets will be scoring 110+. Plenty of points to go around.

Brilliant move by the Nuggets.

1) They become the lead's biggest draw. More TV appearances.

2) Iverson is one of the greatest athletes of our generation. An absolute pleasure to watch on the court.

3) Melo, Iverson and Smith? That is almost criminal.

3) Instant credibility. When you mention teams you do not want to face in the playoffs, the Nuggs automatically top that list. In a seven game series, plays go out the window and straight talent wins. Who can break down their guy better and get to the hoop? Who can knock down the jumper? With two number one options like the Nuggs have, nobody can really stop them because Iverson and Melo can simply breakdown the defender who is guarding them. Nobody needs to setup those guys. They are simply better then the guy across from them (and that goes for about 99% of the league).

It's not fair.

I hate you all.

Read this thread. It was huge news. Even made the papers. Beersnitch dimed out SteveTensi13 over some posts he made and he had to resign from his job. It was crazy.

I'll tell you one thing, I would MUCH RATHER face Dirk Nowitski and Josh Howard than Iverson and Melo. You can stop Dirk and JHO. You cannot stop Iverson or Melo. The only people that stop Iverson and Melo are Iverson and Melo. You cannot guard those two.

I bet you every Mavs, Suns and Spurs fans ****ted their pants after they heard about this trade.

The Mavs will always be mentally weak as long as their mental midget of an owner keeps giving them excuses to give up when the going gets tough.

I damn near fell out of my seat when I first heard this... This is just the type of PG we need for the brand of basketball Karl is trying to put on the floor. Hopefully the critics are silenced about wether AI & Melo get along or not.

It's a great risk to take for the Nuggets. They were a middle of the road team. A team that could just make the playoffs, only to get run in the first round. If this works in their favor they could be a contender. If they can't get along it could be a disaster. But atleast they made a move that could potentially improve themselves. There is no point in staying in the position that they were in.

Amidst the fighting and **** talking, this is the best point. This team, while young and improving, weren't in a position to make a legitimate run. And if in 2 1/2 years, if it's still not working, they let him go.

But I do believe this could potentially boost them out of the first round this year, and potentially farther in the next years.

And I think it's not out of the question that Melo and AI do infact coexist with each other. With the way the Nugs play, everybody will get their shots, IMO. The Nuggets want to fast break, and with AI and JR flying out on the wings running up the court, we'll have a better fast break game, as well as when in the half court, there are now 2 players (Melo and AI) that you have to account for, if not double team. It's going to spread things out.

We can now call them the Thuggets.

And, once eliminated from the playoffs, the Fuggets.

I think it's a great move and I'll tell you why.

I've been a Nuggets fan since the mid 80's. I've sat through enough five year plans and rebuilding phases that I'm more than ready for a ballsy move like this one. I'm ready for them to take chance on being great, despite the risks involved.

It could very well be a disaster and blow up in their faces.....but then it may very well work out. The potential reward is well worth the risk when you've been subjected to the horrid times that I have during the 20+ years I've been following them.

Call them the Thuggets all you want, I'll call them the closest thing to a contender this team has been since the days when English & Issel were on the roster.

The thug factor is overrated. As the chick from Espn's page 2 notes the "thug" tag is from "the answer's" refusal to accept the corporate nba image. You do that, and a lot of things are overlooked. It's not what you do so much as your attitude doing it. Smoking herb, comes to mind (I think I'll opt for a beer instead, as if I smoke herb my kid gets taken away and I lose my job, so **** you NBA, as I live my life on the square cause I have to. And that's the NBA's real problem. Stan the Man may be selling the nuggs over the avs today, but the NBA longterm has a fan base problem. Anyway, melo is pretty close to "non-thug" status. Herb isn't a big deal, but real men drink scotch ... and smoke winstons if they smoke).

This deal is a lot better than having English and Issel, primarily because Camby plays D. Those of you saying 'the answer' is at point, arent' reading what Karl's saying. He wants "the answer' shooting, but not with the ball in his hand coming down the floor on half court. The nuggs are closer to where they were with natt, fats and cooper than ever before. For those of us who remember, Moe coached D when he had Fats, Coop and Natt. Get a PG who can man up on a 6-5 shooter, Camby does, and Melo can play D. Nene ... honestly I haven't seen but two games since he hurt the knee.

IMO the real problem will be "the answer's" effect on melo. Melo goes thug, and the fans turn on him. If Melo doesn't go thug, will 'the answer" call him out? We'll see. Supposedly "the answer" has matured and wants a championship more than anything ....including being a thug? OK, he can be thug, but will he let melo keep the team and relative non-thug status?

Iverson might have been a thug when he was younger, but he has matured I think. He is still rebellious and will give Karl headaches, but hopefully he gives opponents more headaches.
