Default How poisonous was the water in NO?

NBC is reporting that tests on the water in New Orleans reveal bacteria levels at 45,000 times higher than what is safe. Microbiologist Paul Pearce says this will lead to numerous diseases, many of them infectious that will begin to show up in the next few weeks. With evacuees school children concentrated in huge areas together like the Houston Astrodom or Dallas Reunion Arena, we may be seeing a massive outbreak of public health problems now.

Appalling, but, given the following, not surprising...

"Joe Albaugh was FEMA director in 2001. His only qualification was being Precious Leader's campaign manager. Allbaugh hires Michael Brown, his former college room mate, also unqualified for a FEMA job. Albaugh leaves to become a lobbyist for Halliburton and Brown becomes FEMA director. Halliburton hired to do storm clean at US naval bases. They don't even try to hide their crimes any more."

Other reasons I'm not in Iraq:

1) I'm too old.

2) I already served in the military - how about you?

Why aren't YOU there helping out?

After all, the failures of the administration you're backing are responsible for a large part of the unnecessary death and destruction.

You have absolutely NO basis for self-righteousness here - just the opposite is the case: You should be hanging your head in shame for supporting such a criminal and inept administration.

Wow he did it again. Amazing how you can turn every thread into an anti-Bush thread. Can We not have a mature conversation?

Right-winger-to-English Translation:

"Mature conversation" = "don't criticize Bush or Republicans."

In case you don't own a TV set, the word is that the best thing to do is to send $ to the various relief agencies if you want to help.

Water L.A. were talking water. Keep on the subject. Yes, Bush acted slow. I agree. I also think the Mayor and Governor need "to be held accountable" also. The mayor sent out a flier stating it was up to the residents to get out of the city. He had busses. Could have got more people out. At least tried. The Governor was asked if she needed help. She wanted 24 hours to think about it. This was on Wednesday. FEMA sat on there hands. Bush should have taken control sooner. Plenty of blame to spread around. But this thread was addressing the polluted water. How did we start talking about blame? Oh now i remember. The infamous liberal hijacker.

Sounds like you're still suffering from a bad case of selective attention.

Warnings went ignored as Bush slashed flood defense budget to pay for wars 9/6

Im sure I caught it from you.
So this is why the mayor didn't efficiently evacuate the city. Why the governor didn't ask for federal help?

No, I'm asking a legitimate question. What does this have to do with the water that is threatening the health of those people. Keep on subject will you.

That you would suggest that accountability for a president whose inaction and whose deliberate elimination of resources designated for the protection of those waters is somehow not relevent to the topic at hand is simply stupifying.

Let's just ignore Bush's handling of the situation so it can happen again.

That's intelligent.

Not only did Governor Blanco ask for help, she filed an official request directly to the President two days before the Hurricane struck. On top of that she asked the Fed to waive the normal 25% expected contribution to the effort from the state and stated specifically that this storm was likely to create problems beyond the state of Louisiana's ability to respond and requested a 100% federal participation committment. This has been stated and proven at least twice on the Hurricane thread with a link to the government documents in question.

Guess not. I thought we were talking about the polluted water and it's effects on the people's health who came in contact with it. Sorry.

"We?"

I haven't heard one thing from you about "the polluted water and it's effects on the people's health who came in contact with it" - all I've heard is the same old "don't criticize Bush" mantra.

If you want to post something about "the polluted water and it's effects on the people's health who came in contact with it" then just do it - don't act the victim and pretend someone is stopping you.

Also, instead of complaining, why not just use your "ignore" feature?

It's quite apparent that the kid's infatuated with you.

He asked you to expand on a thought, criticised you as you provided the material he requested and continues to deflect, because apparently he has nothing to contribute.

My guess is he is just running around trying to incite you, to get you to lose your cool. At least that is the impression that I have been getting over the last week.

I think you're right.

Come to think of it - I don't think I've ever seen this guy contribute anything to any topic of discussion and defend it. All he does is run around and attack anyone who criticizes Bush.

Sounds like Karl Rove intern material.
