Draft Notebook - 8-1-2005
http://www.draftnotebook.com/draft_projection.htm 13. Denver Broncos (from WAS) - CB/WR Will Blackmon, Boston College 15. Denver Broncos - OT Jonathan Scott, Texas Draft Board Insider - 5-16-2005 http://www.draftboardinsider.com/mock/2006.html 5. Denver Broncos (from WAS) - OLB AJ Hawk, Ohio State 23. Denver Broncos - DT Orien Harris, Miami NFL Draft Blitz - 7-21-2005 http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/mock_draft.htm 5) Denver Broncos (From Wash) - D'Brickashaw Ferguson (OT) Virginia Analysis: Matt Lepsis is still a solid player for the team but they can't help but take Ferguson off the board here. D'Brickashaw fits nicely into the Redskins offensive line's blocking scheme and has superstar potential. (I think he meant to say the Broncos' line scheme. Also, only gives the top 10 picks free, so don't get to see the 2nd pick) Great Blue North Draft Report - 4-25-2005 http://www.gbnreport.com/2006projection.html 7. Denver (from Washington) - Mario Williams,DE - North Carolina State 23. Denver - Orien Harris,DT - Miami Draft King - 6-10-2005 http://www.draftking.com/nfl/2006/mockdraft.shtml 1. Denver Broncos (from Washington) - Matt Leinart, QB, USC 19. Denver Broncos - Loren Howard, DE, Northwestern About.com - 6-22-2005 http://football.about.com/cs/nfldraf..._mockdraft.htm 9. Denver Broncos (from Washington) – Omar Jacobs, QB Bowling Green Jake Plummer has been inconsistent throughout his career, and despite a solid ‘04 campaign, the Broncos would have to consider a QB of Jacobs’ caliber. 11. Denver Broncos – Derrick Hagan, WR Arizona State Ashley Lelie had a nice 2004 season and Darius Watts should develop into an outstanding No. 3 receiver, but Rod Smith is on the downside of his career. Huddle Geeks - 5-17-2005 http://huddlegeeks.com/NFL_Draft/2006/mock2006.htm 6.)Denver (from Washington) - DE - Mathias Kiwanuka - Boston College 17.)Denver - OT - Max Jean-Gilles - Georgia Lion Backers - ? http://www.lionbacker.com/?id=draft&sub=06-diezmock1 4 Denver Broncos (f/WAS) Mathias Kiwanuka DE Boston College Kiwi is a freak, a pass rusher extraordinaire who has the frame to become an even better player in the NFL. Could replace Browns castoffs that the Broncos signed. 18 Denver Broncos Andrew Whitworth OT LSU Whitworth is more of a football player than an athlete, and doesn’t grade out as well as you would believe, but would fit nicely at LT for the Broncos, replacing Matt Lepsis. There are more, but my 56k connection at work is wearing thin. Enjoy. |

I'm not to excited about the first one, but I wouldn't kick too much about any of the others at this point, but it is a long time till April.

The Broncs are not going to draft a QB in the first 2 rounds for as long as Jake is the quarterback, which should be about five more years. People place too much emphasis on replacing the current QB. Look at the Packers who needed defensive help and took Aaron Rodgers and Favre could still probably play two more years after this one.

1. In 8 years, Plummer has 20 INT's 5 times. If he continues that this year, I believe the Broncos will be looking at a replacement much sooner than 5 years. 2. It has been since 1991 that we have had a top 10 pick. And I don't see us getting another top 10 anytime soon. If you can get a franchise QB in the top 10, not many teams will pass on that opportunity. |

Good points. I was just saying that Shannahan has already committed to Jake. It would suck if we had a so called franchise QB riding the pine for too long behind Jake. If Plummer does blow ass this year/ which IMO won't happen they should draft a QB. I just don't like the idea of using a first or secound rounder when their are going to be some studs at other positions in next years draft. |

Give me Lienart and a stud LT and I will be happy. The back bone of the O is always going to be a stud LT and a great QB. Drafting both in the first round of a draft would rock.

Give me Zac Taylor and a stud LT and I will be happy as opposed to that. And Ive never even seen Zac Taylor play. Leinart's a scrub.

Some of those combos are awesome. Mario W. and Harris. Kiwi and Max Jean Gilles/Whitworth. Hawk and Harris would be great if we didnt get Gold. Blackmon is a good corner but we dont need anymore. Obviously I hate Leinart. Very lukewarm on Jacobs/Hagan. I could take Hagan but not Jacobs, at least not that high.

I would like the one from Consensus on another post that had us taking Winston and Jimmy Williams in the first. That would be ideal - a tackle to replace Lepsis long-term, and a safety who has the ability to cover more than just his ass, which we still don't have unless Ferguson starts pulling rabbits out of his hat, and quick.
As for later rounds, I see us picking up either Degory or Eslinger for a centre in the 2nd, or the 3rd if neither is gone by the time we pick in the 2nd, and a guard in either the second or the 3rd. Dunno how/when we will start looking more at the D, will depend on how the year goes I guess. |

6'5" over 220 pounds. Thats what you want in a QB. A guy who can see the field. Passes won't be knocked down at the line either. Smart player with a good arm. Pete and Chow don't make bad QB's boys. Just face it. He will be the future.
