Bailey was on FSN North and talked about covering Moss ect. Says he isn't going to change his game and isn't a real bump type anyway...
He DID say that he spoke to Shanahan about getting more snaps at reciever, and that he worked on the position this offseason. I don't have a problem with it at all, if even as a decoy. He caught one is all last year. With Pubiak likely to panic into the nintendo offense as usual if we fall behind by 3 points, he's at least one player that can line up in that 5 wide. Rod, Lelie, Watts, Putz and Champ doesn't look too shabby. That's quite a bit of speed out there. |

Great idea... put your $60M corner out at receiver... you can draft speed if all you're looking for is a decoy.

Great, another offseason of Champ campaining for playing time on offense. Just play your position at a Pro Bowl level and shut up about offense.

When Champ did take the field on O every eye in the joint was on him. Having said that, if we put him out there and the situation goes Sehorn on us....well not good. So I agree w/ sexual harrassment panda (what happened to him Brec?) on this one.

He's not "Champaining" for it, but I think it's a viable option. This is a long way from the days that Deltha was going to be Jerry Rice. Bailey could play WR, or RB or QB in a pinch.
He's averaged 22 yards per touch recieving. |

For the record.... I like having Champ play on offense. Last year he was used in the first couple games and did an good job. He dropped one ball and he wasn't seen on O again.
BUT, if you're going to put him on offense and put the ball in his hands..... why not let him return punts too. He is one of the best returners in the game and certainly the best on our team. If we have the cajones to put him on offense and ask him to get killed by a LB or S, then why not ask him to get killed by several of them in the open field? Besides, this is the NFL and they aren't allowed to hit him until he says he's ready and in the position to take the hit anyway! |
