Paying Bills and I noticed that there will no longer be FSN Rocky Mountain carried by Direct TV. This makes me so mad cuz that was one of the major reasons I switched to Directv was to get the local sports coverage for the Broncos daily whether it be the talk on Insider Edition or the nightly Rocky Mountain Sports Report.
I have not missed a RM Sports report in 3 months now they pull this crap? They tell me I can still view local sports on altitude but what good does that do me? |

I don't know it that's true or not, it certainly doesn't make sense. There are a ton of regional Fox Sports channels, I don't know why DirecTv would pull one of them just because of Altitude.

Maybe another Directv subscriber can back me up by looking at their bill and confirming (it is right on there). I will be dropping my Sports package on April 15th cuz that is the last day they are carrying it.
Makes absolutely no sense with all the other FSN channels out there to drop RM . Spittin fire right now. Why would they do this? What is on Altitude that is worth a crap? I honestly have spent about 5 minutes on that channel. |

I just emailed Directv through their website concerning this. If you share my frustration I suggest you do the same.
www.directv.com At the bottom center there is a "feedback" option. (Boy did I give them some feedback too) |

If Dish Network would have the NFL Network I would switch to them but they don't have it.
Wonder if they ever will? |

Fox sports central will still show the RM sports report. They show the sports reports from all over the country. I get fox sports central from my cable company but not FSRM. I'm still able to watch it on most nights unless they put something else on.

Well here was Directv's reply to my "Feedback"
Thanks for writing. I'm sorry to hear that you are thinking of canceling your DIRECTV service when your annual commitment ends on 6/10/05. You are important to us and we certainly want to keep you as a customer. A service specialist will call in the next few days to discuss what we can do to meet your needs. Thank you for your patience, and for giving us the chance to respond to your concerns. I love wasting my time to make myself feel better, cuz I am sure they really give a rats ass about one upset customer. I can only hope that there are legions of Bronco fans across the country that signed on for the same reason I did and they let Directv know about this the same way I did. |

Why do they have espn at 200's and fox sports way the hell down in th 700's? I'll check. I don't have the sports package, but I get fox sports south, or think I do.

Well Directv called me.........apparently the decision is coming down from Fox Sports themselves because they believe the coverage for me here in Bismarck, North Dakota is doubling up too much from the FSN North coverage coming out of Minneapolis. So basically I am hosed any way you want to look at it, if FS is no longer broadcasting to this area for that reason that is going to cover Dish and Directv.
What a crappy day. 1) Contact Fox Sports and voice some displeasure 2) Contact Altitude to find out if they ever are going to cover anything Broncos related, maybe drop the Mammoth in favor of the Broncos? Yeah I know that seems to be a stretch cuz you will lose the tens of fans that watch the Mammoth but they may want to be cutting edge. Last edited by ND Bronco Fan; 03-21-2005 at 05:48 PM.. |

I don't know if you know this, but Stan Kroenke owns Altitude Sports and Entertainment along with the Avalanche, Nuggets, Mammoth, and Rapids. Of course he's going to show his teams on his channel. The NHL strike has killed the first year of his new station. On the other hand, Fox Sports Rocky Mountain just bought part of the Rockies and it's already evident how much more they've been promoting the Rockies upcoming season than they did in years past. The stupid "GenR" logo has been on the upper right hand corner of the screen on FSRM for the past month. As far as I know, the only Bronco programming on FSRM is on the Rocky Mountain Sports Report. I don't know if Altitude is planning their own local show to compete with Fox's, though you think they would. Anything would be better than Bill Owens' show and the awful Irv and Joe Radio show on TV. So the Broncos are the only team in the region that isn't at least partly owned by a Denver cable station. The Broncos do have a contract with CBS KCNC 4 as the "official" Broncos station that airs the Mike Shanahan Show and other stuff. Your beef shouldn't be with Kroenke, it should be with DirecTv for their stupid decision to take FSRM off the air in your area. Isn't that the point of having a satellite and the sports package, watching stuff from different areas than your own? |

[QUOTE=Breck Bronc]How could Altitude drop the Mammoth in favor of the Broncos? They play at different times of the year and the Broncos are on much, much, much, much larger stations CBS, Fox, ABC, and ESPN.
I'm sorry if my sarcasm did not come through clear enough, I know everything you are talking about and sorry I wasted your time by you typing out a very clear and well thought out reply. Your beef shouldn't be with Kroenke, it should be with DirecTv for their stupid decision to take FSRM off the air in your area. Isn't that the point of having a satellite and the sports package, watching stuff from different areas than your own? Actually according to Directv this decision was made by FSN to pull programming to our area. At least that is what Directv told me so I emailed Fox Sports to try to confirm this. Altitude rules for Nuggets broadcasts, but everything else on that channel is terrible. Although, the only good programming on Fox Sports is the Sports List (mmmm summer sanders), RM Sports Report, and occasionally the best damn sports show period.

The Insider Edition at 6:30 on Tuesdays is not bad either. Oh one more thing, Altitude does me exactly jack spit for Nuggets coverage, not local............so you think the station sucks with the Nuggets games? Take those away and you got yourself another shopping channel in time I spend watching it. Last edited by ND Bronco Fan; 03-21-2005 at 07:42 PM.. |

I think you have to give Altitude some time to grow. Not having the Avalanche has hurt, but the station's ratings have steadily increased since George Karl took over as Nuggets head coach. Granted some of the programming is corny, but the positive is that it gives unknown and deserving athletes in the region more exposure. I like watching the Mammoth, Sky Sox, CHL Eagles, and Metro State hoops. The competition with FSRM will be benificial for the region as they will fight each other picking up more college and high school sports. From what I read, when the channel was launched, is that they will have a nightly sports news program (ala the Rocky Mountain Sports Report) within a year. The channel has gotten off to an inauspicious start, but give it time.
One suggestion I could offer is for them to get rid of that stiff Brandon Cruz. Not only is this guy boring, but the dude cannot dress. ![]() Last edited by Jori; 03-21-2005 at 07:51 PM.. |

What sucks is that the best programming is the Nuggets and Avs of which I will get neither cuz it is out of market, which is no different than FSN but at least there was some other stuff that was good. I wonder if they do end up getting a local sports show on Alt. if their will be any Broncos coverage or if it all will be geared towards Stan's teams?

I really like Altitude's Nuggets coverage. A pregame show before every game, a postgame show after every game, re-airing the games later on the night of a game and a weekly show recapping the week that was with the team. I'll be even happier when the lockout is over and they give that same kind of coverage to the Avalanche.

CO or Jori, do you know if the guy doing Eagles games with Peter McNab is the new Avalanche play-by-play guy? If so, I might just want John Kelly back and I never thought I would say that. Also, even though they're done broadcasting DU games this year, I couldn't stand Tim Neverett and his voice. Dan Kelly was OK, but there was just something about Neverett that made me cringe. |

I would have liked to see Dan Kelly get the Avs TV gig. I liked him ever since listening to him call Columbus Blue Jackets games on Center Ice. I also would have liked to see them get Dave Strader (formerly of ESPN) but he ended up taking the Florida Panthers gig. |
