Broncos | No Middle Round Draft Picks - from www.KFFL.com
Wed, 2 Mar 2005 11:39:12 -0800

Bill Williamson, of the Denver Post, reports the Denver Broncos do not possess a draft choice in the third, fourth and fifth rounds this year. They lost their third round pick because of salary cap violations in the 1990s. Their fourth round selection will likely be sent to the Cleveland Browns for DT Gerard Warren and their fifth round choice was traded to the Atlanta Falcons for DT Ellis Johnson last year.

Holy Shiat... I know I'm a rival fan but... I rather enjoy debating the Donks vs Raider draft... This will throw a wrench in that!

They'll get a comp pick in the 3rd, 4th for Warren, and hopefully Ellis Johnson re-signed because that was the 5th.

This isn't last year's draft, I'll take GW and hopefully EJ for those picks anyday.

Look at who we used those picks on last draft. They obviously care very little about those picks.

These are the rounds that Ratboy usually pulls one out of the hat especially a runningback...

TD (arguably the best RB "pulled out of the hat") was a 6th round pick, Max...

True he was a 6th round pick. My point is... Ratboy doesn't seem to get his draft mind on track until the later rounds and with the donks not having as many rounds, the pressure of getting the right player might force unnecessary mistakes. Taking a player that's slated for the 6th round in the 3rd round is a pretty bad situation don't you think?

If Pryce is traded before the draft, that will probably recoup the third round pick, and maybe the fourth too...

Who was the big free agent that left last year that would give you guys a compensatory pick in the third round? Bertrand Berry? He may yield you a 4th or 5th, but hardley a third, especially since you picked up Lynch in free agency and he ended up going to the pro-bowl. In fact, I'm not sure you guys will even get a compensatory pick.

It's already been reported that the Broncos will receive a compensatory 3rd round pick for the loss of Bert Berry and Ian Gold to free agency last year. It'll be officially announced at the owners meetings.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

One way to look at the Warren trade is that they spent their 4th round pick early. They are getting something for it. They are getting a guy that was the 3rd overall pick in the draft. If they can fix what ever the problem was, then it was a steal.

They are not in cap hell. Tennessee is in cap hell. Cap hell is having to cut good players to just get under the cap.

With the 3rd round picks for under the table flexibility program that Denver has been running for years they are never in cap hell.

Maybe you could educate yourself about what actually happened? Making side agreements with players, to defer money owed but salaries that still hit the cap, has nothing to do with keeping the Broncos out of cap hell.

Instead of broadcasting your ignorance to everyone, next time try to find out what actually happened. BTW, contrary to what people at CP say with their cool little *, in both instances the NFL specifically said the Broncos did not violate the cap.
