Those were what I would do for BCS bowls. I should have made that clearer CBF1. We won't know for sure until the BRoncos are up 21 tomorrow.

i believe, unfortuneatly, that Texas is now going to get the nod over California with Cal's performance tonight and the fact that they were ahead by only .0013 over Texas going in. I think Cal deserves it more, but from the stuff i have read Texas is going to get the nod.
Orange Bowl: OU vs. U$C Sugar Bowl: Auburn vs. Virginia Tech Fiesta Bowl: Utah vs. Pittsburgh Rose Bowl: Michigan vs. Texas

I despise Texas, and that's putting it mildly. Nothing would make me happier than to see them go to the Hotel, Motel, HOLIDAY BOWL! They should save time and re-name it the Mack Brown Bowl.
I think Cal played just tough enough to keep the lead. |

Their two toughest games where at home against A&M and UNC? Naw dude....got to bump'em. |

I just don't think Utah...or Boise State play anybody....they played one ranked opponent between them...and that was Utah according to ESPN...but I can't find which one it is. Louisville on the other hand played slightly tougher comp...but you have to give them props for dipping into several different tougher conferences and winning.

garcia, utah is assured a spot in a BCS bowl because they were a non bcs conference team that finished in the top 6.

UNC is NOT a good football team, I'm not sure I'd mention them as tough. IMO, CSU and AFA are both better teams.
aTm is a pretty damn good team IMO as well. I see your points though. It's hard. I'm blinded by my hatred of Texas and the fact that Utah is undefeated. The schedule isn't necessarily their fault. It's like Gonzaga in basketball. I think if you're undefeated you should get an automatic BCS bid. Yes, that means Boise State too. You can't blame them when their conference sucks. Plus, Texas sucks. ![]() |

All I'm saying is if you put the top ten teams excluding Boise, Louisville, and Utah...and put them in the WAC, MWC, and CUSA...IMO...8 of those ten teams would go un-beaten. Texas does suck...they don't play anybody either. |

There's no way that Utah can be bumped out of the BCS. Particularly when it gives the announcers the opportunity to point out, as often as they can, how Urban abandoned his team...

![]() Garcia, I think we agree on this, we're just bad at explaining it (or at least I am). Ultimately, I think we all know the answer is an 8 game playoff. |

An eight-team playoff of the top ranked CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS would be my solution. What the BCS is right now would choose the eight teams and seed them. The first round played at the higher seeds' home field and the next two rounds in the rotation of major bowls. If done according to Saturday's BCS poll:
#8 seed Michigan (Big 11 Champ) at #1 seed USC (Pac 10 Champ). #7 seed Virginia Tech (ACC Champ) at #2 seed Oklahoma (Big 12 Champ) #6 seed Louisville (C-USA Champ) at #3 seed Auburn (SEC Champ) #5 seed Boise St. (WAC Champ) at #4 seed Utah (MWC Champ). Notre Dame would be treated as a conference unto themselves. Now you've eliminated every excuse. You must win your conference title to go to the tournament. You must be one of the top eight conference champions according to the BCS standings to go to the tournament. No conference gets an automatic berth. Every conference champion has to earn their way in (big and small alike). There are no "at large" berths so there is no decision making to be done. From there, it's strictly brackets. |

texanbob the only problem with this approach is that there will be many a deserving team left out in favor of weak conference champs. Almost every year, the no. 2 and no. 3 and sometimes no. 4 ranked teams in the big conferences are just as good if not better than some of the mid major conference champions. This will kill top tier teams in the SEC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12. Perhaps the better approach, if you want to maintain the requirement that winning the conference gets an automatic bid is to apply that rule only to the winners of the Big 10, SEC, ACC, Big 12 and Pac 10. That establishes five seeds. This leaves 3 wildcards that can go perhaps to the 3 remaining highest ranked teams whether they be a mid major champ or a major conference power that has had a very good season but just came up a bit short in their bid for the conference title or in the alternative Notre Dame should they be ranked among the top 3 remaining teams.

Go with a 16 team playoff: 11 conference winners and 5 at-large bids.
Four rounds of college football playoffs. Instead of March Madness, it will be December Disarray! 1) USC (Pac-10 Champs) 16) North Texas (Sun Belt Champs) 8) Boise St. (Wac Champs) 9) Louisville (Conf USA Champ) 5) Texas (at-large) 12) Virginia Tech (ACC Champ) 4) California (at-large) 13) Michigan (Big 10 Champ) 6) Utah (Mtn. West Champs) 11) LSU (at-large) 3) Auburn (SEC Champs) 14) Boston College (Big East Champ) 7) Georgia (at-large) 10) Miami (at-large) 2) Oklahoma (Big 12 Champ) 15) Toledo (Mid-Amer. Champs) |

I could dig a playoff of 16...better than 8 IMO....but I don't think the seating should be decided by sports writers and coaches.....there needs to be a different seating process in place. Why people think sports writers or coaches should have any say at all is ridiculous. |

Those are some nice matchups down the line. Utah/Lsu is a good matchup to start with, then the winner would take on Auburn. Thats excitement right there.
