Default USC/VT game thread

well, so far much has to be expected and although its early i was kind of surprised that USC was favored by 17 in this game. VT Qb Randall is playing as expected. not too much of a passer but a good scrambler and the DE Jim Davis is a beast on the defensive side of the ball. if VT keeps up the defensive pressure they might pull out the upset tonight.

USC isnt looking all that great. They will still win the game but now i dont have to worry about them winning the title or anything.

and that 3rd and 8 is why VT will struggle this year. Randall just cannot pass to save his life. if not for his tight ends he would have zero yds through the air. too bad as i was kind of hoping for a upset tonight.

Those kids played better than I thought they would. The defense brought the wood. I didn't enjoy the PI call, but USC matched the physical battle in the second half. Pete's team made the right adjustments at halftime...better protection...and better containment of Randell. I don't think Randell scrambling was the game plan...but he stepped up and Beamer went with it. How about the TE King? He doesn't get great separation but he's got the hands.

i like King a lot. he was catching almost anything and Randall wasnt making it easy. i also like the DT Jim Davis a lot. very aggressive and if not for his hands to the face call would have been even better. a lot of talent there on the defensive side of the ball so it should give UVA a tough time this year.

That #1 guy Green for VT is some player. I agree that PI call was weak! It changed the whole game.

This is like the Hall of Fame Game for college teams. You shouldn't expect perfection out there. Both teams showed something to build on for the season. USC did seem rather mortal for a good part of the game and I think that bodes well for the NC picture.

VT put up a good fight, but USC showed they were the better team. As the season progresses USC will only get better. California is the only other ranked team on their schedule.

I was there. Great game. Indeed the P.I. changed the game, but I was proud of our performance against the National Champs.
