The uploaded file is not a valid GIF, JPG, or PNG file. Please ensure that it is and try again.

It's not difficult to make an avatar, BD... what kind of dog did you have in mind?

To make an avatar, you just need to collect the images you want to use and composite them, then resize the composited gif or jpg to 150 x 150 pixels. You can use online imaging utilites like ImageMagick or gifworks, but most of the time I use Paintshop Pro for mine. Spider uses a really cool gifmaker... I'm not sure which program it is, but his avatars and sigs are awesome.

most pic viewers have an option.. usually called "Resize/Resample" or something close to that. when you click it, it will show you the dimentions of your pic size... height & width, change the larger of the two numbers to 150.
This will make your pic the right size.
Then choose "File" then "save as" and save the file as either a Gif or a Jpg.. and thats it! Post the pic to a URL somewhere or simply upload it from your PC
well.... thats how I do it anyway
