I love election season... I watched every night this week, and intend to watch every night of the Republican convention. I'm looking forward to seeing Bush's platform, but more than that, I just love watching the parties as they form from year to year. I'll be curious to see if the Republicans have an answer to the dynamic Barak Obama. August 30th - Sept 2 ![]() |

I will be glad when it is over.
This is an extremely polarizing election. Wall Street will go into a spin if Kerry wins this election. The numbers don't even come close to adding up. Kerry isn't a liberal, he's a socialist. He absolutely will not address his voting record, instead, relying on saluting in a rediculous, redundant address of his war record when in fact he was a prominent anti-war activist along with Jane Fonda. He has been in the Senate for 19 years. Why doesn't he ever bring that up? I am reminded of a string holding a doughnut above Homer Simpson. The catch phrases were all there. Progress, not Resession. Cooperation, not Isolation. A Chicken in every Pot. People, this man will be the Richest President in the History of the United States. It's easy to promise things. What specifics did you hear? More defense troops. Wow, talk about moving to the middle. Tax the Rich. Now that is an instant vote getter. Did anyone catch the cost of his new Medical Plan? Now remember, the Democrats opposed some reform last year on reform, because their partisan politic wanted that egg. The rest is somehow he is going to get France Russia and Germany to suddenly become allies. Of course, he doesn't have a concrete plan. It's classic. Promise them the world, and when it's unrational, he can blame the Repugs. |

Is pointing out Kerrys record, revving up the hate machine?
if so, then everyone revvs up the hate machine....I have no problems with each candidate pointing out the others records. So far, I've not seen any 'hate machine' from Bush.. actually the only hate I've seen this campaign is from the extreme left.. the Bush = Hitler crap and that sort of thing. |

This contest is so tight, I'm thinking it will be won by the guy who makes the least errors. The debates will be huge. Which ever candidate wins the debates, wins the election (IMO). |

You are failing to tell the difference between pointing out differences in records and muckraking. Kerry's appeal to taking the high road was directed at W...W now has a choice to make on the matter. I seriously doubt whether Kerry was directing it to the Coulters, Rushs or Hannity's...that would be foolhardy.....just as it would for the GOP to address the same to moveon and there ilk. The impression I get was it was directed at the campaigns. I didn't hear a lot of muckraking from the DNC Convention....I didn't hear any from Kerry or Edwards...the Kerry/Edwards campaign is taking the high road in this and made an appeal to the Bush/Cheney campaign to do the same.....not it's supporters, just the campaign itself...there's a difference since I find it hard to believe that political commentators are directly controlled from each party's war room. They're their own entities.....maybe I'm wrong, but that's the way I'm taking it. We'll see if the RNC Convention takes the high road or if it'll be 1988 all over again. |

The timing of the Republican Convention is shear genius... the day after the Olympic games? People will be swelled up with national pride (assuming our athletes do well) and/or pissed off about demonstrations of what they deem to be "anti-Americanism." Plus, there won't really be any competition for viewers. The fall programming starts later that month, the baseball playoffs haven't started, and the NFL is in the middle of that all important, "last week of pre-season let's start all the guys we are going to cut," phase. Brilliant!
So what is the over/under on references to Olympic events in W's acceptance speech? |

You got a quote? I don't remember hearing the word "liar" in that speech. I heard Michael Moore spouting "liar." I didn't hear Kerry say it though. |

That's the story of the whole bush campaign in a nutshell, isn't it? The rethugs have been caught red-handed lying about their opponets' records so many times that they have a serious credibility problem w/ undecided voters. |

![]() Yeah, asking millionaires to pay their fair share of taxes is the very definition of socialism, alright. |
