The Darkness rules!
Just ask Hogan about them, he'll tell you how much he loves them as well. |

The worst release and band of 2003, hands down...by such a wide margin, it isn't even funny....a living, breathing, actual Spinal Tap complete with all the cliche cock-rock moves, frilly clothes and an unbearable, ultra-gay, "just kicked in the nuts" howl guarenteed to clear a room in record time. Yeah...but they raaaawwwwkkkkkk Duuuuuuude!!! ![]() C'mon...take my advice and go with Jet's Get Born instead, an infinitely better band with a vocalist who doesn't try to ape the very worst aspects of Freddy Mercury's operetic, no balls yodel and songs with chops that actually transcend the obvious influences, not just palely imitate them. The Darkness are pure garbage, trash is too elevated a description for them. Last edited by Hogan11; 07-01-2004 at 06:29 PM.. |

Justin hawkins is a great singer, 80's rock or not the guy makes the Darkness. His voice is what they are about and elevates the whole band because of it. 80's arena rock is out, but they've recreated it and made it pop again. |

What I meant by my post is that while they can be influenced by these bands, they are not some phony made-up band that is a rip-off of Queen. Same with my marketing thing that Ames took different, I meant that they aren't marketed to be the new Queen or Queen Jr. About Jet, I meant that they are like Nickelback in the way that when I hear a song by either of them, it sticks with me but quickly gets old. There's bands out there that I can listen to over and over and over again do not tire of them, TOOL and Mudvayne being my 2 most probably. Maybe Jet is too soft for me or just not what I'm into musically, but I get tired of hearing their songs after a few times. |

Can't stand them. JMO but I think they're Queen wannabe's who are simply ripping off stuff that was done before to make a quick buck. |

The problem with Jet, their songs get old real quick.
I can't stand their 2 released songs, and most of their CD now, they are like a Nickelback to me, good song until I hear it a bunch of times. |

Whoa....Nickelback is a broken home whiner band, a more "rock" version of Good Charlotte than anything else....Jet doesn't wallow in self-pity like Nickelback does, a major plus in these parts. I have yet to get tired of Jet...and I really like the stuff more and more because it lacks the cliche nasal vocals polluting most of alt-rock right now plus the material is solid. I know it's all opinion anyways, but I have yet to tire of it...then again, it isn't played to death around my area either, so there you go. |

The Darkness: By far the worst thing I've heard since Nirvana. How anyone can listen to those horrid, almost comical vocals and not get a hernia diving for the remote control is beyond me. The dude sounds like Tinkerbell having an orgasm. He's terrible. I've stubbed my toe on concrete and made more harmonious sounds that that sh/t.
Overall, the music is neither inspired nor inspiring. Basically another group of mass produced cheese whiz musicians. I can honestly say that if someone were to give me this album as a gift, I would beat the sh/t out of them. It's that bad. What I've heard of it, anyway. How the hell did a fairy rock band come up with the name "The Darkness" anyway? |

crow -
I actually find that AIC & Soundgarden were the two best known seattle bands - Temple of the dog - hungerstrike i think is the worst song on that cd - just my own thought - maybe cuz it's the only one the radio ever played - pearl jam's 10 is the only pearl jam cd i can listen to straight through |

I liked "Hungerstrike" and "Say Hello 2 Heaven" even though Chris Cornell's annoying vocals come close to ruining both songs for me (now you know why I disliked Soundgarden)...I didn't have much use for the CD beyond those two songs. I was on board with Pearl Jam with 10 and Vs. after that, from the disasterous Vitalogy onward, no way. I liked Nirvana, The Afghan Whigs and the Screaming Trees....other than that, not much else from the whole grunge thing. |

The Stone Roses were a great band, I absolutely loved them..brit pop at it's finest. Oasis on it's best day couldn't even come close to the weakest of the Roses material (not saying their was any weak material, mind you). I think The Complete Stone Roses is an essential CD for any collection. |
