Default Lets talk Titans

I think it's great that it's gonna be cold (said from the comfort of Sunny South Carolina). We all know that this passing offense is unstoppable in warm weather but I'm sure we all have doubts how that translates when the thermometer drops - specifically Mannings arm strength with the nerve thing.

This is a great opportunity for Manning and the Broncos to not only practice in frigid conditions but to compete against a competent defense at home.

Tennessee is giving up 7.1 yards per attempt (15th), and a composite QB rating of 79.0 (8th). They have 31 sacks (16th), and have allowed just 8 passing TD's (1st), but have just 10 ints (20th). The most passing yards they have given up all season was 280, 46 of which came in OT.

rushing wise, they give up 4.1 yards per attempt (14th), but have surrendered 16 rushing TDs (31st)

Overall, they are the #11 scoring defense and #9 yards defense.

Their defense is decent but not great. This is a perfect tune-up opportunity for the playoffs.

manning has averaged around 2 TO over the last 4 games too.
BTW, the ONLY good time for a turnover is a hail mary at the end of the half.

or a bomb on 3rd down and out of field goal range that goes farther than a punt.

I like the Titans. They are about where I figure they would be but have been in some games to the end (like vs Colts). I would not take them lightly but at home, this game should go our way.

They're a pretty good road team - 3-3 on the road, and they were in all of those games. They have a below average offense. So if we can get a few scores, we should be ok. Their defense can play well enough to let them hang around. They're a dangerous team, but they are in the middle of a tough road trip coming off a big loss, so we got them at a good time.

That seems like a tall order for the 2013 Broncos.

Should I start Monte Ball on my fantasy team? Or will it go back to Knowshon?

Do the opposite of what your better senses indicate. Like yesterday people sat Decker...

Ball is fun to watch run. I hope he is over the dropsies, he could be really exciting and headaches for a Defense for the 7-8 years.

I could definitely see this one being close at the half, but hopefully we remain true to form and pull out the stops in the second half. I'm not taking this team for granted, and certainly think that you have to respect their talent at RB, even if Chris Johnson is having a down year. I don't want to be the team he goes off on.

Will what go back to Knowshon?

I think we are going to continue to see both RB's used from now on. We need to keep Knowshon fresh as much as we can. He will still get his touches, But Ball is going to get 10-15 as well. I have both on my team in 1 of my leagues, I started both yesterday... along with Decker and Manning. My team goes as Denver goes.

Tougher game than most people think.

Denver needs to jump on them early and put the game in Fitzpatrick's hands.

Unfortunately "practice" isn't going to help Manning with his sub freezing temperature issues.

I still don't understand why people point to the cold as the main reason we lost against Baltimore and NE. Yes, we are not AS GOOD in the cold, but its not THE REASON we lost. Its such a simple man's argument.

Well there's a few things that happen when it's really cold. For one, people are DEAD wrong when they say it Manning loses strength in the cold. Extreme heat is when you lose strength. They've done studies where they'll work an athlete in extreme heat and he wears out fast, then they put this weird cold glove on just a single hand which drops the core temperature and the athlete actually regains strength and stamina quite fast. So as far as stamina and strength is concerned, cold is actually better then heat. That said, the cold takes it's toll in other places. The ball obviously gets harder and more stiff and it's hard to grasp it really good. Larger hands usually means a QB will have an easier time throwing the ball well in very cold conditions. I've also seen somebody say that practicing in the cold won't help. That's BS as well. When you practice in the cold, you can adjust to how hard the ball is and you tweak certain things. I'm not saying it makes a huge difference but how could it not help at least to some degree. As well, the air in the ball as well as outside the ball, when it's colder, is more dense and the ball falls to the ground faster. That's just science. When you practice enough in these conditions, you get used to the ball being harder, and the ball not flying quite as far as it normally would. It's not a huge difference but on a 40 yard pass, it might equate to a yard or 2 and that could make all the difference in the world when you're trying to fit the ball in tight windows. When you have a cannon for an arm, obviously it's not going to affect those types of guys as much, but we all know PM doesn't really have a cannon, so yes, practicing in the cold will definitely help him. Then you have the psychological part as well. I just don't see how anybody could say not practicing or playing in these conditions doesn't help you. The more cold weather games PM plays in, the better prepared he will be late in the season I believe.
