RIP Barry Fey
I know it's been almost a week, but Barry deserves a thread. He was responsible for putting Denver on the musical map early on with all of the big-time bands that were touring and keeping us there. A very unfortunate end, but from the Post article today, it sounds as if he was in quite a bit of pain.

For the sake of those of us who had never heard of Barry Fey...
Ozzy Osbourne learned of Fey's passing while on tour in Australia.
"Barry Fey was a gentleman and a great friend," Osbourne told The Post via e-mail. "He was the first U.S. promoter to believe in Black Sabbath and gave us our first American tour. The music world has lost a great man. My heart goes out to his family."

PBS radio had a Barry Fey feature today, some rehash of his interviews over the years. One of them Fey was talking about how he first heard of Led Zeppelin, said he was promoting some other bands for a US tour and he was told he should bring in Led Zeppelin. Said he wasn't gonna pay for a nobody band, so one of the other acts told him they'd give up $750 of their money to pay for Zeppelin if Fey would give up $750 also. The rest is history.
Vanilla Fudge was the band that gave up the $750.
