134 tackles last season.

Jason La Canfora ‏@JasonLaCanfora

After signing Ellerbe, the Dolphins are releasing LB Karlos Dansby, who had 134 tackles last season

This draft is not strong at MLB, so he might be the best option in terms of talent. He's still young enough.

Ellerbe signed, and Dansby's contract was probably not something they wanted any longer.

What was Ellerbe's contract as opposed to Dansby's?

He called the front office out...twice last year. Not something that sat well with Philbin. Also his contract. And Ellerbe. He also played hurt and talked a lot about his injury. Miami has doesn't like players talking to the press about their injuries. He is a good player, I just think he isn't what the new regime is looking for.

I can handle dishing out the cash for Dansby much more than a fa corner. They get overpaid every time. Would love dansby and a 1st/2nd round corner

He played in a 4-3 when he first entered the league with Arizona, if I recall primarily at WOLB but with a lot of fronts that effectively had him playing MLB responsibilities. He was then signed by Parcells to be a 3-4 ILB.

He's a very good all around football player who definitely has some gas left in the tank at 31. As a few year stop gap he'd be an excellent signing and I'm sure he'd transition into our system pretty seamlessly.

His combination of pass rush and coverage skills would put some real interesting blitz packages at Del Rio's disposal.

Dansby would have cost the Fins ~ 8.5 million dollars on the cap this year -- cutting (after dead money) netted them half that. So they got Ellerbe super cheap. That is why. He can still play. Been one of my long time favs.

Vasquez,
Dansby,
Jennings,
Knighton,
DRC.

DONE.

That would be quite a haul- and sweet as hell. Plus, John Elway WOULD be Exec of the year, next season.

Ed Reed ?

dansbys a stud, watched him out of necessity since all dolphins games are shown here, would be a ridiculous upgrade to the D.
LB core Woodyard dansby miller = winning
