I was hoping this topic would come up on the Broncos board I frequent.

Ugh. That's awful. Granted 2 of the last 3 Star Wars movies sucked anyways, but hard to imagine watching a Star Wars movie that Lucas didn't direct.

You mean like Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi? Honestly, if Hollywood is dead set and determined to continue milking the Star Wars universe as a cinematic franchise instead of, I don't know, actually developing new IP, this is about as good a development as any. Disney's acquisition of Marvel certainly didn't seem to adversely affect their ability to pump out fun films based on the property.

In fact I'd even prefer any future Star Wars films to have as little Lucas involvement as possible. He's lost sight of the very universe he created. |

Just to steer it towards something that Broncos-related - if I, all of a sudden, had $4 billion, I'd make Bowlen an offer he couldn't refuse, and start living the dream!
After we won the first Super Bowl under my regime, I would get up there, hold up the Lombardi Trophy, and proclaim, "This one's for Dom!" |

What in the world would be the plot for Star Wars Episode 7?

Jar Jar's Revenge.
A prequel explaining why the world should think Jar Jar is the greatest misunderstood character ever. Plus lots of dudes walking around yelling NOOOOOooooooOOOOO and good actors acting like bad actors so they can tell their kids they were in a Star Wars movie. |

A thrawn trilogy storyline would suck from what I am reading of it so far. We know that Episode 7 will take place after ROTJ.
Then there is this about the Thrawn trilogy for Episode 7. Quote:

Maybe it will have more of POTC feel to it. Wouldn't be a bad thing.

with as much Star Wars material out there as there is i doubt it would be hard to churn out so more films.
the thing that will be tough is how to appease the old school Star Wars fans and the new ones that came in with the origins storyline. |

That's probably why they are going to reinvent the Star Wars universe. In my mind, the story is over. The Dark Side was defeated. They probably should (but won't) call it something else. They have to piggyback off the franchise name...

Any Star Wars movie that doesn't involve Lucas will have a better chance of being good. Lucas is like some reverse alchemist. He takes really good actors and turns them into wood.

I think he still wants to make good B movies like he saw as a kid. The CGI fight scenes of the planes was good but the dialog of the actors in the planes was terrible. If he made an movie that is an all out 90 minute space war with no dialog then it might be good. |

The problem with Lucas, was that he had some good ideas and also bad ideas. He was surrounded by a bunch of yes men and nobody had the guts to tell him that some of his ideas, sucked.
