Default Ekuban to Broncos?

Per John Clayton on ESPN Radio Ebenezer Ekuban will sign with Denver or NO, I think he said. I hope it's NO. I don't think this guy has done much.

Ekuban is/was a DE from Dallas right?

Eerrily reminiscent of another Cowboys castoff- Kavika Pittman.

2.5 sacks last year. 12 for his career. Yup, just what we need.

Shoot me.

Sounds just like Berry before Bert came here, of course Bert wasn't a 1st round pick though.

He's not that big - 6'3", 265 - and he lacks burst. The Pittman comparison is apt.

Here he is struggling to disengage from a block by Rickey Dudley.

He missed just about all of the 2001 season. I think he'd be great in the rotation. The only reason Pittman sucked was because he cost too much money....and Pittman spent several years in the God aweful Ray Ray and GR defense where he spent snaps in coverage.

i think he would only be a rotational type of player if we resign heyward. with pryce still there, i think those 2 will start with Ekuban coming off the bench...god it sounds like basketball doesnt it

All I'm sayin is whenever I've had the misfortune of watching the Cowboys play....he's making a difference for them.

PASS! This is the 2nd coming of one of Mike's most embarrassing signings. OMG...I hope this doesn't happen. Popps is right....Mike just keeps trying to plug in bandaids or has-beens and won't step up and get a stud. Maddening.

That's all well and good, but how many stud DE's are available, and more importantly, how many can we afford?

I've been hearing that for 7 years, now. Been a long dry-spell, I guess.

I'd trade our entire 2002 draft crop for Peppers.

.... and I'd throw in O'Neil for good measure.

If they can get him a near min. what does it hurt to let him come in and compete?

You have to draft these guys high, and often to get the impact players... or go out and sign them when they're free agents. Scraping the bargain bin just doesn't work....

Kearse and Wistrom were out there this year, and yes Denver could have signed them no problem.

Kearse signed for 6 years, $66 million with a $16 million signing bonus.

Wistrom also signed a multi year deal but terms weren't disclosed, but I have to believe it's in that neighborhood.

So after signing Bailey, how could we sign either of those guys?

Wistrom's deal was more like six years for $33 million and a $14 million signing bonus. I like him and I wish we would have landed him, but that's still a lot for an effort guy who doesn't rack up double digit sacks.
