By this time, Peyton should have known what the national press was going to do with his postgame remarks. He's not exactly a novice to being interviewed; he's been in the harsh glare of the limelight for years. Ideally he should never have made the "protection problems" comments at all. And now that the media has kinda moved on to the SB and the teams that are actually playing in it, he probably should have just let the issue die and maybe made a private apology to his teammates for the "misunderstanding". There's little or nothing to be gained by publicly rehashing an incident that happened three weeks ago and was quickly disappearing down the "memory hole". His belated damage-control efforts (and his father's as well) are likely to do more harm than good.
