As I mentioned great article but I believe the Broncomania roots run much deeper. I wasn't born until 74 but I did watch the OrangeMonday game of 1973 recently. Broncos vs Raiders home game.
We hadn't beaten those punks but 4 or 5 times until that day. B-love correct me if I'm wrong. You are the historian around here.
Seems to me this city was already raging with Broncomania back then and 77 just put things over the top.
very true meck.
the consecutive sellout streak started a few years before '77, and '76 was a winning season.
my father and plenty of others were die hard from year one.
my dad went to a couple games the very first season.
granted there wasnt "broncomania" back then, but that was the roots.
as for true broncomania, i agree it started before 1977, though 1977 is when it was at its strongest and best.
the m&m connection.
the orange crush defense.
the dominating 3-4.
orange fever. bronco players on cans of orange crush.
sea of orange in the stadium.
people painting their houses orange.
it started before 1977, but 1977 was something truly amazing.
i wish i had more than just vague memories (i was only 6!!) of it.
