Jesus was a majician and social revolutionary beyond doubt, but he was hardly the only one of those. I've never been sold on the notion that Jesus knew beforehand everything that would befall him and his movement. In fact, the traditional Christian theology is that God sent Jesus into the world as a reconcillation with humankind, and through Jesus gave humankind a philosphy (love) and social structure that would eliminate hate and sin, and all the social maladies that result. However, humankind rejected Jesus's philosophy for hate and sin. At some pt of his ministry, Jesus had to know he was on a oneway suicidal course to be nailed on a tree. Politically, he had to know that his entry into Jerusalem would result in his death/assasination.
Yes, the council of nicea organized the books the bible would use - Of course, if he had known or setup his rise from the tomb (death & resereccution) were also included in essne traditions... just something to think about
