I'd say that men and women view ''friends" differently. There are women that I see in passing, or in a group that I'm involved with. I talk to them and am friendly. But does that make them a true friend? I wouldn't say that. True friends are people that you talk to often, and are a real part of their lives. When a guy is that close to a woman, he's trying to score. When a guy helps you move, or is that shoulder that you cry on, he's trying to score.
And I have a couple of very good male friends that fit your bill of description there, so I continue to vehemently disagree with your assessment.
