Montana's current economy is based on consumption. During resource production years MT ranked in the top 15 per capita income, now they rank in the bottom five...coincidence? The only reason Billings is making any progress...and little at that...is because of I-90, that's it. It's got easy access to shipping lanes and is a good place to pass through. But nobody stops there. Most Montanans work 2 jobs or more. I'm sick of crybaby BS hippies in CA and NY dictating to Montanans what their way of life should be. It's crap, LA has their economy, NY has their economy and neither was built during the times when the stringent environmental regulation (which is fine) and the excess litigation (which is BS) were even conceived. You can't fart in the wind in Montana without an Environmental Impact Statement, 3 years of public meetings, 6 EPA rulemakings, 9 environmental lawsuits, and a partridge in a pear tree. Wyoming is making $6 BILLION, with a B, in royalty revenue from resource development. Think that doesn't help with schools, hospitals, roads, services? Meanwhile, back in MT, they're going to have to raise taxes on an already overtaxed population with little disposable income to spare. Dems rant and rave about good schools, teacher pay, services and such, but refuse Montanans the means by which they can make a good living to pay the taxes. Furthermore resource production provides additional state revenue through the royalty stream. F!ck these limosine liberals and their crybaby, do good for a day, BS rhetoric. F!cking causeheads are a dime a dozen, and they're gone in the morning. They have their wine and cheese reception and pontificate on my state's affairs from 3K miles away while my friends, family and statesmen are too busy to attend these things because they're working 2 f!cking jobs.
