The Ontario Edwards IMAX showed the print in all its 70mm glory. But, it was not "true" IMAX, you are correct. They chopped up the film to make it viewable instead of a 16x9 aspect ratio. They show all kinds of films in that monstrosity too...
Baja, I must disagree. This movie will rake in TONS of dough, especially this weekend. There was a thought that the theaters here in L.A. should remain open 24 hours a day to take in all the viewings. I know it was opening day, but even the small size theaters here were completely packed and nearing the sell-out point for the entire weekend. Trust me, this thing has legs and will easily break $90-110 million clams this week... Guaranteed.
