Im not saying we should use a third on Colquitt, but great punters are based more on hang time and spot punting (hitting the sidelines, inside the 20s and such).
When you have a great D then great punting can net you another 3-6 points just based on field position.
I could care less about directional punting. Where has this gotten us the past few years when all we put out there are directional punters? Punt and kick off every one through the endzone for all I care. Why try to get greedy and cute with cornering kicks, which more often than not are shanked out of bounds after 30 yards? A good defense like the Broncos have had the last few years should prevent 80 yard drives and net us points right off the bat.
IMO - The reason the Broncos punting has been poor is because the last few punters have all been "directional" kickers and not pure power and hangtime kickers. Hence, when the Broncos get stopped in their own end, the opposing team often starts with great field position. A stronger leg alone can eliminate much of this. I'm sick of seeing Bronco punts get fair caught at midfield. Bring on a guy like Farden!
