Broncos get two more Browns DL… There isn’t a move afoot yet to rename the team the Denver Browns, but the Broncos are on the verge of adding their 3rd and 4th former Cleveland defensive linemen when a deal that sees the Browns send Denver DE Ebenezer Ekuban and DT Michael Myers for RB Reuben Droughns is completed later today. Ekuban and Myers will join former Browns’ teammates Courtney Brown and Gerard Warren on the Broncos’ defensive front this year. The Broncos got Warren from the Browns in exchange for a 4th round pick at the 2005 draft and earlier this year and signed Brown, the oft-injured first player selected at the 2000 draft, earlier this month. They all have joined Broncos’ defensive line coach Andre Patterson, who had the same job in Cleveland last year, in Denver. Despite the makeover in their defensive front, the Broncos are still expected to look hard at defensive linemen in the upcoming draft. With the addition of Brown and Ekuban at DE, though, the Broncos may concentrate on DTs. Indeed, there have been rumblings that the Broncos might package veteran DE Trevor Pryce with the 25th pick overall in order to try and move up in the first round of this year’s draft in order to acquire either of DTs Travis Johnson of Florida State or Shaun Cody of Southern Cal. Also note that there in the early talk of the Browns-Broncos trade there had been some discussion that a conditional 2006 pick could be attached to the deal if Ekuban, who has had knee and shoulder problems of late, missed extensive playing time next fall. It is possible though that the inclusion of Myers may have precluded that part of the deal.
