Because the more money upfront (Signing bonus) means that if he is cut/cant't go in the future, the more of a cap it teh team will face in the future.
People have been b****ing about this for years with TD/Griese/Carter/Gardener.
So you want to add more to the list and continue the BS of having dead dollars to deal with for the next 2 to 3 years?
Sorry Pryce was a dominate force. Now he is an above average player with a disk injury. Once a player has a disk (lower back) injury he has it for life.
The Rams took that chance with Kyle Turley. He had a disk injury. The Rams took the chance trade a 2nd rounder had a decnt year from him in 2003 and then he reinjured the disk in the offseason and was lost for the 2004 season.
If cut many teams will be interested. But when being asked to give up future talent in draft picks those same teams balked. Denver tried to sell him to teams. Yet Denver also was asking for 1st round talent. All they got back in offer's where 3rd talent.
This entire situation was a major miscalculation by the team.
Now at this point in the offseason teams know Denver has their back to the wall. There's no reason to deal for a guy that clearly has issue with the team and the team has issue with him. Not to mention a cap ceiling that Denver is tucking under. Teams are just like sharks in the water...waiting.
Mike/Sund. have been telling every FA agent that their cap for 2005 dosen't have Pryce on the books. When you tell one agent you tell all agents, even Trvors agent, that he's not going to be there. Word of mouth travels fast between agents.
