What happens when you nuke 'em?
Bad things man, bad things. I got nuked by three countries repeatedly, for one tactical nuke, and no matter what I did I could not get a peace treaty. I have found that the best strategy is minimal to no war. War early (before first CIV change) in the game is fine after that it seems that maintaining a huge army is too expensive. Having a huge reserve and getting all the scientific advances is key. You can more ways this way. By launcing the Space Program, being voted head of UN council, and by outlasting everyone.
